Since Escaloya was in on the plan and could falsely identify the copies authenticity, and Daffyd mentions giving the book back to Janos, I would assume it was a dummy copy.
The room service girls are two police officers who I don't think we've seen before this issue, but on page 10 you get a panel flashback of Daffyd "recruiting" them for the job. It looks like Kayleigh introduced him.

I was doing fine reviewing the whole THK series until I hit this issue. Who is the redhead at the end? Bethany? And is that the same person as the dark blonde on page 7?

I was doing fine reviewing the whole THK series until I hit this issue.
If it helps, I didn't understand a single thing that happened in this issue. Yeah that issue tried to do a lot in a very short space. Basically, there are two new characters who we never saw before: the blonde and redhead waitresses, who are actually cops under Daffyd's control. He uses them to assassinate Clovis. This now has me wondering if those are the same two cops in the final page of the latest issue. |

Ah; there's a flashback panel at the bottom of page 9 that I didn't understand--because I didn't get that it was a flashback. That's the "recruitment" moment. Thanks. |
