So what was it?  A dummy book?

And maybe it's just been too long, but who are the 'room service' girls again?

Since Escaloya was in on the plan and could falsely identify the copies authenticity, and Daffyd mentions giving the book back to Janos, I would assume it was a dummy copy.

The room service girls are two police officers who I don't think we've seen before this issue, but on page 10 you get a panel flashback of Daffyd "recruiting" them for the job.  It looks like Kayleigh introduced him.

Anyone know which tarot card this is?  I think it's the Ace of Wands.

I was doing fine reviewing the whole THK series until I hit this issue. Who is the redhead at the end? Bethany? And is that the same person as the dark blonde on page 7?

If it helps, I didn't understand a single thing that happened in this issue.

Yeah that issue tried to do a lot in a very short space. Basically, there are two new characters who we never saw before: the blonde and redhead waitresses, who are actually cops under Daffyd's control. He uses them to assassinate Clovis.

This now has me wondering if those are the same two cops in the final page of the latest issue.

Ah; there's a flashback panel at the bottom of page 9 that I didn't understand--because I didn't get that it was a flashback. That's the "recruitment" moment.

Thanks.

My main (only?) complaint about this series is that the encryption for the magic words keeps getting changed.  >:(

It is so much better when I can read the actual commands Daffyd is putting out.  ;)

A good example of this is the flashback panel on page 9. Where the words used clearly indicate he enslaved them and erased their free will. It actually helps this explanation of what was going on in this chapter. We've lost that starting with Chapter 20 and no longer know which processing which girl has.

Although I suspect Daphne has tried to address that by including fairly specific clear text in parallel with the commands on page 11 of the latest edition (#21)
