Now that the site redesign has been around for a while, let's re-ask this question: What format do you read the comics in? Comments below, as always.

Roughly equally desktop and tablet, live. I selected desktop on the survey. For series I especially like, I download the image files or PDFs for offline viewing, "later"--typically when I'm trying to work out who is who.

There are periods where computer access isn't super convenient for me, so I often check out new releases on my phone. Ideally it would be PDFs on a tablet, but for various reasons I rarely get around to it.

Mixture of desktop and tablet. It might actually be nice to redo the survey to let people pick multiple methods in preference order; I suspect a lot of people don't have just one.

Typically by downloading the pdf's where available and reading on desktop as this has some advantages for me, primarily ability to (re-) read off line (useful to check the story-so-far when a new epsiode comes out) and being able to combine the episodes into one document

My first read is almost always live from the site. I have a few favorite stories that I save to PDF for later re-reads. All on my desktop. (though it does technically sit on the floor)

The way I most often read comics is from downloaded image files.
I don't know what other options people use to view PDFs on a (Windows) laptop. Acrobat doesn't handle shrinking the page to fit on the (landscape) screen as well as the default Windows image viewer does - the text can be difficult to read. However it sometimes handles zooming in better than the default Windows image viewer so occasionally I resort to the PDF if there's some detail I can't make out.
A folder full of downloaded pages is really the only way to be able to look at SJI the way you need to.

First read is live, usually on tablet but sometimes on PC. Subsequent reads are sometimes live, sometimes PDF. I use a comics reader app on tablet, and CDisplay Ex on Windows.

Cover has a nice, modern Windows 10 and tablet interface, if you're willing to drop a couple bucks on it to unlock larger library sizes. On iOS, I've decided I like Chunky.

I read it either on a phone or a laptop computer. Voted phone because that's what I'm using right now.
