Probably the creepiest story on the site. Been enjoying it a lot.

I was wondering when we'd see this again. Not overly surprised that those cops ended up biting off more than they could chew. Like Beyond Rubies, this probably isn't going to end well.

Reread the entire series, just so I had a clue what was happening. I agree--this's one of the hotter tales, though it took awhile to gather steam.
The only thing I'm stuck on at this point is how the detective ended up in Gray's car... or failing that (because he could easily have just told her he had information on Susan Aspinall), how he got her into the chair in the basement.
I'm sure this will all become clear... :0

I don't know--this woman's a detective, knows how to handle a weapon, knows how to recognize a bad situation and keep her guard up. So far the series has dealt with plausible (well mostly) behavior... that's one of the things I really like about it--the very limited amount of pure magic involved--so I'm going to hold out for an explanation that seems plausible.

I'm putting my money on Plot Oil.

The thought occurred. But I hope not. All it would take is a pen-injector of an nice MC drug...
