Neither. Kind of another 'oh fuck' moment.
That secretary is, ahem, drawn well, however.

I think we've had branded stuff in panels before... but it's funny, given that I'm an Apple-everything girl myself.

Is Dani's desktop an actual brand? I thought it was a placeholder.

So it wasn't Switzerland Dani was ringing, it was the future...?
The apparent lack of need for context in the secretary's call suggests it's Jakob or a representative on the other end. Unless there's some other interested party in all this. I wonder how they managed to sneak her in past Johannes's defences...

That last bit seems like the easiest question in the history of this strip. I think Johannes follows the "Charlie Wilson" model when hiring his assistants. This woman certainly fit that bill. Either Jakob or Big Daddy Kuppler left enough of a fake paper trail to avoid raising any red flags. End of story.

Previous product placement has included Tampax and Always. The key thing in these endeavours is reaching your target audience.

Why was this "the future?" It didn't look like it had Jetsons cars or Star Trek transporters or anything? Did something say 2014 in that office?

I know very little about phones but that's from after January 2012, isn't it? But, it's a parallel universe, and all that. The Watch will be commonplace in our universe in a year or two.

To be perfectly honest, the phone thing didn't make any waves with me. One of my favorite recent comedies She's Out of My League (about an ordinary guy somehow landing a drop-dead gorgeous model-looking chick with a law degree and a successful party-planning business) featured an I-Phone that the characters treated as new that the director chortled about being an obsolete model during filming on the feature commentary. So what? I was far more interested in and annoyed by the fact that the "deleted scenes" were actually scenes from the Theatrical release of the film that got cut from the DVD and slapped in their own little "special feature" (instead of being actual "deleted scenes.") Hmph.
