I would rather see Hitomi getting it on with the Infirmary girls, but hey...

Yeah, me too.  Or at least the other cheerleaders, anyway.

I did find the end of this pretty damn funny, though.  I want to know more about Hitomi's personality now.

On a completely different topic, and sorry for hijacking the thread to say this:  Looking back at the calendar, we got issue #83 on April 27, 2012.  On April 26, 2013, we got issue #183.  100 full-colour, highly detailed comic pages in 12 months.  I think Daphne, PlutonianKnight, and OctaviaMoon all deserve thanks and congratulations on really stepping up production on such a high-quality product, and I look forward to many more issues that confuse and delight me.  Good job, all three of you.

I wonder what the fearless captain is up to right now.  The problem I have, is that Pete or whatever his name is...I'll just call him PF for short--seems to be in the Derek mold.  He's married, but doesn't seem to have an occupation, field of study, or much care for his wife.  He's just an opportunist of limited imagination.  Hitomi's frustration here is funny, but it would be more satisfying if this guy went in for a kiss to begin things, got kicked in the head with a cheerleading move, and knocked unconscious so that Hitomi and Imani could enjoy one another and he got instant karma without involving any of the three identified factions, so far.  I realize our author believes in such karma only in very small doses, so alternatively, could we demonstrate that he has a little imagination if we're going to be saddled with him hitting the Philanderers' Lottery?

His name is Coates; Imani introduced him in #182, panel 5.

And, you know, I'm like a chick and all feminist and everything, but if I were a guy, making out with my girlfriend, had an open marriage, and a really cute large-breasted cheerleader asked if she could join my girlfriend and me, and said girlfriend was up for it... I don't think I'd be able to live with myself if I said no.

(And he's a dance major.)

Society could use some loosening up. people everywhere seem rather tightly wound. Perhaps we could all follow Hitomi's lead and follow the action. I, for one, greatly enjoy this series. It's hard to take it too seriously though.

Coates is as much a 'victim' as anyone else here, assuming the clocktower signal affects men too. (does it?)

If I may be allowed to interject here just for a moment.  The only things I saw readily apparent in Coates' first two appearances were

1. He was busy getting it on with Imani when Hitomi showed up and was interested and
2. He's married, and his syntax of explanation sounded like the typical philadering poltician speak..."We...er, have an understanding.  Our relationship...defies convention...sorta."  Also, the track record of the vast majority of male characters in the MCC/DF multiverse, even in SJI doesn't toll in his favor.  Other than Adrian and his dad Patrick (and Adrian is a subject of debate) the only genuinely nice guy we've met so far is Vik, and the accumulated trauma is almost giving him a supervillain origin story.  So, Coates as a genuinely decent guy would be an anomaly and the conditions on the ground don't show him to best advantage.

I incorrectly assumed that he either got Pat-swamped by the belltower with Imani and brought Hitomi along when opportunity knocked, and then tried a lame excuse when questions were asked.  If this is an open marriage, I guess I'd have expected to say something along the lines of

"Honey, I'm home.  And guess what I brought?  Peppy, gorgeous cheerleaders!  Your favorite.Grin  Come on out and tell me what you think."  Something like that--abetted by the max-powered belltower.

I like the way Hitomi even gets angry like an anime character.

We were very pleased with it, too Grin
