This issue seems to lend credence to a theory that I mentioned way back.

From 1314 onward, one big question that's been asked is: precisely what is Miriam doing with this whole soul-sucking power? How did she learn this ability? How can she do it? She has exhibited no seemingly magical capabilities and appears to have the same touch-based MC ability as her father, but no indication as to how she is able to somehow shunt people out of their bodies and into herself, where she can change them as she sees fit.

Way, way back in 473, after the ritual in which Miriam's memories of Jakob were unsealed, Miriam asks Erin, "What are you? I've seen you do magic. Real magic." To which Erin replies, "I don't have a word for what I am. Or what I do. But I can teach you some things."

Fast forward a few issues to 479, and, amidst scenes of Erin and Adrian fucking, we see Miriam studying a tome which very clearly sems to be related to the world of Erin and Aiken, given the symbols visible on its pages and the red candles melted to the table as she studies them. Seemingly, Erin has indeed been instructing Miriam on some techniques of whatever power is available to her. This only seems reconfirmed when she tells Miriam in 950, when they are on their way to the airport, "Remember, we're what people are superstitious of," implying that Miriam has in some way been introduced to Erin's world.

Now, so many issues later, in the 1380s-1390s, we see that Erin is able to pull Miriam into whatever the spirit dream she set up was; Adrian later confirms in 1450 that Erin "took control of the fantasy she had locked you in." That, together with Aiken's apparent ability to create a new one of these spirit dreams to protect himself inside of Miriam, seems evidence to me that whatever magic Erin and Aiken practice is how Miriam was able to kick off this entire escapade in 1314 to start with.

Back in 453, Erin looks at Miriam thoughtfully before inviting her to the theatre, saying to herself, "I hope I'm right."

I don't think we've any reason to believe that redhead Melody from back in the eighties was Erin's mother, other than that our first proper sight of her came in a splash page, and her hair is very red. But if she wasn't, an awful lot of pages were spent drilling into us that Patrick was drilling into her (and he came inside her). And they were going to keep in touch. So it's just possible that Erin is Patrick's daughter. And Jacqui is sure enough that Miriam is Patrick's daughter to tell her that.

Rain is apparently a daughter of Atlas, or something. And Jacqui has some as yet undisclosed history with Rain. So Miriam could come from remarkable stock.

If memory serves me correctly, in one of the guest pages we see Erin wearing a shirt that we also see Melody wearing during the 80s flashback. That's another bit of evidence suggesting they're related - Erin is literally wearing her hand-me-downs.

I had a feeling that was the case, and taking a look, it appears that she's actually wearing the same shirt at the start of the comic. I was figuring that there are probably only so many t-shirt designs though, so it's wouldn't be conclusive. But yes, maybe the fact that it's what we first saw her in is significant. (Being picky, the shirt she's wearing in the guest page must be different because it's short-sleeved. But I suppose a Wilmot t-shirt she had at that point would be more likely to be a hand-me-down.)

The evidence at this point is suggestive, not dispositive, which is appropriate.  If we get a conclusive reveal later, we can look back at earlier issues and see hints and signs - setup and payoff.

Let's check the timeline.  Erin is 23 at the start of SJI, which takes place in January 2012.  This suggests she was probably born sometime in 1988, meaning her mother got pregnant with her no earlier than April 1987.  The 1980s flashback in which Patrick is seen railing Melody is September 1986.  So the timeline sort of lines up, if we assume Patrick kept sleeping with her and it took six or seven months before she got pregnant.

While the original bonus from 2012 had Erin down as 23, she's 24 according to Dramatis Personnae. She's also a Scorpio (ibid), which places her birthday roughly 23rd October - 21st November.

If she's 24 in January 2012 then she turned 24 in Oct/Nov 2011, meaning she was born in Oct/Nov 1987.

If she's 23 in January 2012 then she was born in Oct/Nov 1988.

I think the only in-comic reference we've had for her age is 1513 (she's 19...) and 1515 (...on 22nd September 2006). In that case, she turned 20 in Oct/Nov 2006, meaning she's 25 in January 2012, and she was born in Oct/Nov 1986. That would make it impossible for her to be Melody's daughter, let alone Patrick's. But although this is canon, it appears to be within a fantasy sequence, so who knows?

Adrian and Miriam are 22 and were both born (1077) 22nd September (which appears to be Virgo, although they're Libra according to DP - but what do I know about astrology?). So that places their birthday on 22nd September 1989. Whether there's any significance to Erin arriving in Fantasyland on Adrian's (or Miriam's) birthday, who knows?

I find the later parts of the eighties flashback confusing (the stuff about Miel and Jacqui and the birth control pills). I don't know how long a period of time that flashback covers.

while the first "official" day of libra is the 23rd, the dates are more approximations used to separate the signs. Being born on 22nd or 23rd makes you a virgo-libra cusp, which means you are equally impacted by the receding energies of Virgo, as the incoming energies of Libra. something like a strong need for harmony and fairness combined with a meticulous and calculated approach to life.
