That was my first thought, that it was the UFO or maybe the dystopian future from Cuckoo's Nest, but these brainwashing chairs don't match either of those brainwashing chairs.  That helmet is pretty distinctive and I feel a little foolish for not recognizing it.

I love the helmets - I was taking them as a nod to the Mekon. I was seeing it as a concoction of various themes from Cuckoo's Nest. But maybe there was an issue of Giddyland I've forgotten.
