Pinned meaning, individual posts can be pinned to the top of a thread (so my flow posts would all be at the top). As an alternative, private meaning I could start a thread that only I could comment on (for the same need).

Sorry Daphne, I am just not an SJI person and boy does that topic get a lot of discussion. Being able to mute a thread (so I do not get any notifications that there is a new post) would be lovely.

In the current Forum, I can "Reply" to a thread, but not a specific post. Obviously I can quote, but it doesn't have a link back to the post that it's replying to (which could be from a ways down the thread). Most modern discussion platforms will do that. Plus, it would notify the OP that there is a direct reply to what they said.

The only reason you should be getting a notification that there's a new post is if you subscribed to it. Or are you referring to the "New" indicator?

But it does. If you leave the link= in the quote tag, it links back to the post that you are quoting. Or do you mean something else?

Agreed, though, that it's not full threading where each post points back to the post being replied to. On the other hand, often posts are replies to more than one post, and the quote tag does handle that situation.

That's assuming you quote, though, which not everyone does / wants to do. I often just want to reply, not quote!

I'd make use of this sort of Thread muting feature as well.  I'm the opposite of hereno in that I am far more into SJI than Starter Marriage.  As well, topics like MCT releases are not really of interest to me.

Something beyond the "show posts" in your profile?

Some of this might just be a user interface thing, i.e. making features more visible. In this case, I never go to the Profile section and had no idea this feature was even there.

I mean tbf there is a limit to what can be done. It’s a 17 year old forum, and Simple Machines forums seem to be going by the wayside more and more.

We tried it, and we decided we weren't wild about it, so we'll be doing something different.
