Hm, what's the over/under on the whole red-star thing being an automatic contingency plan or something otherwise undirected by the long-absent what's-his-name supervillain?

I'm almost certain that's the case. If I remember correctly, the background of one panel even had a news alert in about Doctor Morrix breaking out of prison right around the time the star plotline began.

Right, but my contention isn't that Doctor Morrix (that was the guy's name, yeah) is present in the lair where the red-star slavegirls are accruing, but rather he fled to Cabo or something and has forgotten entirely about Operation RED STAR that he set up years ago, and that's the reason he hasn't shown up again.  That and his character design looking perhaps a little more like an unintentional antisemitic caricature in 2024 than it did in 2018 (an unintentional resemblance I'm sure! possibly just my imagination!).

Dang, having gone back and looked, now I'm super curious about Agent 37's story, before and after her conversion to pleasure unit.
