Amusing, and the promise of Pearl's leather jacket bandanna look is tempting. However, once again, FOUL!
I humbly request please that sometime this summer you perhaps favor us with a flashback of this sequence on the other side of that wall, starting just after the last panel of 85 when Jacqui pulls Adrian into the store room and closesthe door through the last panel of 87 with the Erin/Pearl conversation as background while we see the glory of that scene in the store room. After all that time anticipating it, to have it happen and have it be excellent but not see any of it is...
unbelieveably aggravating and frustrating.
I refuse to be distracted by Erin's description of Pearl's figure (no matter how intriguing that description and the accompanying pop-up text might be).
On a side note, what does "extra crispy" mean in reference to store or office coffee?
I'm not a coffee drinker myself, but I never thought of "crispy" as a descriptor for a hot beverage. I've heard of crispness in reference to the flavor or refreshing nature of cold beverages--juices, soft drinks, beers, etc. but never in this context. Does Ms. Hackberry mean extra strong (a lot of caffeine), or exquisitely flavored (with pick your flavoring)? Is she just blathering to cover?
Also, from what we can see past Erin's head, Pearl's fashion sense is as eclectic as her mother's Black leather jacket, pale lavendar bandanna, tan--is that thing a purse, a shoulder bag, or a ruck sack...hmm...some sort of teal top (or scarf?) with a red (maroon?) layer on top of it (or under it if the teal is a scarf). Almost as if the two sides of Jacqui's nature were having a clothing war. From the shadows she's cast, it's probably too small for a ruck sack--some sort of purse, I guess.
Lastly, is our perspective skewed looking through Pearl's eyes? Erin seems a bit more...er, top-heavy during her conversation with Pearl (specifically panel 3) than she has previously.
ETA--I confess I've never heard of a "Jewish Studies program." I've heard of programs in Hebrew, but never that particular phrase. Also, "enrolled," but not "transferred." Is Pearl an early enrollee freshman, or a supersmart (and, therefore, young) grad student?
Out of curiosity, is Maddy's last name Sullivan? Erin's mug reads "Sullivan's Diner."
