We love the close reading SJI gets! Generally, our policy is that we'll answer a question if we feel it has been revealed in the text already, and wasn't a subtle thing that we are looking forward to readers discovering. We don't answer questions if the answers are forthcoming in a future issue, or if just saying it outright would spoiil some hint.

And we do put lots of hints in. Smiley

Considering that most TV shows and movies have a "continuity" person to insure that the actors wear the same clothes in scenes that take place at the same time but are shot on different days etc., I would say that Daphne does a pretty good job of keeping track of things.  After all, this *is* a comic, not a reality TV show or a docu-drama.

I'm afraid this was entirely my fault...Daphne only occaisionally puts script direction for colouring so it's usually down to me to choose and I keep continuity by using previous pages as a reference. Where a T shirt has a logo (like Jacqui's) it's glaringly obvious that it needs to be the same colour, but the Laura in the coffee shop T-shirt colour got passed me Sad

Can we say that Laura spilled Coffee on her T-shirt and she changed into another one?

I can see I am going to have to be MUCH more careful vis a vis colour continuity, from now on Smiley

Octavia--I apologize for putting further stress on a job that should merely be immensely enjoyable.  That's an excellent explanation about Laura's wardrobe change.

Thank you for your continually excellent work.

For some reason I never thought of character wardrobe continuity as the responsibility of the colorist, but I suppose it is, along with the artist and the writer and, of course, the person in charge.  I suppose it must be difficult to coordinate these details with everybody working in different geographic locations.

Having mentioned the subject of continuity, I must, paradoxically also say that I am not really a connoisseur of it.  I don't look for it, not do I derive any satisfaction from pointing out whatever discrepancies I might notice.

I think that every member of the SJI team and the team for every other comic on this site does an *excellent* job.  Feel free to frame this posting and mount it on your wall.

There are situations where I enjoy pointing out anachronisms or continuity goofs--but that's TV shows and movies.  SJI is a completely different animal.  I second ellbenton's praise of your excellent work collectively and individually.

I am one of those annoying people with an uncanny knack and ability to notice the tiniest detail...I usually know the murderer in a crime drama within seconds of them being shown and I HATE continuity errors in films and TV...so I'm with you on that one, JMundt.

I can totally understand, when one is scrutinising SJI (for instance) for minor (or major) plot points, that you are going to notice things like clothing. And it's really ok to point them out - wwho said "It is only through criticism that we learn"?

Thank you for the complements...am now going to shop online for a frame Smiley
