Always like an "Are You Being Served?" reference. Smiley

Thanks to Daphne, HMB and PortalComic, as always.

This was a great issue, and the tension is ratcheted right up.  I think I can see where this is going.  I'd wondered if Julie's Nick-controlled hair would be the tip-off, but Nick's new Ruby not going online works just as well.  I'm guessing Shanti's specialty is going to be co-opted by Gabby and Elaine to keep Monsonis locked on his private floor, unable to access security, etc until they've done what needs to be done.  As great as this issue was, the wait for the next one is going to feel even longer Smiley

Not much outright sex in this issue, but still plenty of eye candy.  The montage of ladies on page 5 and 6 was excellent; the second and fourth panel ladies on page 6 particularly so.

I also loved Laura's expression on page 8 right before Nick rips open her jacket.  This particular outfit of hers' has been a highlight for me the last several issues, and I particularly like how that hairstyle works on her, with a few loose strands here and there.

I noticed we got some indirect information on the political structure here.  'Minister of the Interior', 'Minister for Culture', etc.  I know that Beyond Rubies shares a loose connection with Hidden Knowledge, and some similar terms have cropped up there.  The titles make it more likely to be Canada or Britain rather than the U.S., but it doesn't really feel like either of those nations.  I've been wondering if BR and HK are rather meant to be set in just a fictional English-speaking capital city or city-state.

It feels like we're building towards the conclusion of this arc (if not the comic as a whole) in the next issue or two.  If Nick and the ladies do manage to take down Monsonis/Quine, it seems like this is going to leave a power vacuum.  It actually seems similar to what has happened with Daffyd and that group in the Hidden Knowledge now that Clovis' syndicate is gone. I wonder if the next arc of either comic might influence the other more openly, or if we'll ever see more open crossovers, rather than just a hint or cameo.

Clearly knowledge of the Rubies is very widespread among certain groups, given what Monsonis showed Nick this issue, but we don't know much they know. Even some of Quine's own board (the female members at least) seemed ignorant of the full scope until they were converted.  Even if Nick and the harem "win", it seems like the best they might be able to do is to take control of Quine from behind the scenes and do damage control.  It seems like too much knowledge is out there to just switch all the rubies off.

I was thinking the same thing, but regardless were the series takes place the results are the same. While I did anticipate that giving Rubies to the ruling class would minimize the chances someone being able to stop the wide distribution of the Rubies to the general population, I didn't anticipate that Monsonis would also enslave men as well, making him the de facto ruler of the entire world eventually. Nice touch.

Well the cats out of the bag so to speak, knowing something can be done is half the battle. Even if the best possible outcome for the women were to happen, too many people know what the Rubies can do. Someone will reverse engineer the Rubies and the whole thing will start all over again, this time with a difference company pushing them out. The women of Rubies world are doomed, it just a matter who there master will be.

Let's say a product hit the market for real, where you can turn your Wife / Girlfriend into a total slut, would you buy it? No more I have a headache, I'm tired, I'm not in the mood when you want sex and no more I don't want to do that, I'll just lay here like a Japanese sex doll and are you finished yet?

I know I'd buy one or two. Smiley

This is the appeal of Mind Control Comics. Boy meets Girl, Boy brainwashes/mind controls girl, boy turns girl into a sex slave fulfilling all of his dreams and desires. The Fansadox comics follow a similar theme, Boy meets girl, boy kidnaps, rapes, and beats the ever living shit out of the girl, boy turns girl into sex slave fulfilling all of his dreams and desires. I however dislike the Fansadox theme where the boy makes the girls life a never ending hell with humiliation and pain just for the fun of it, I would prefer if she treat me well, I would treat her well exchange.

I know that the extreme lengths that Andrea's growth as depicted here is probably controversial, but I frankly loved it, and would love to see how she reacts when (if) she's returned to a more lucid state.

Yea the breast size is a little too extreme for me. I prefer the breast enlargement rate at the beginning of the series where it took weeks to increase breast size several cup sizes. Far more realistic in my opinion, gives the owner of the Rubies far more control over when to stop breast enlargement using the web interface software.

I can't wait for the next issue, I just hope it doesn't take another 7 months to release it.

Many places have a Ministry of the Interior, France for example, but Canada is a likely candidate.

A (poorly drawn) glass of champagne.

The rubied daughters are certainly intriguing... what's the motivation there? Obedience? Incest? Both?

Well you would hope the Head of the Serious Crime Unit isn't into incest. My guess would be he has two rebellious daughters, always getting into trouble and daddy has to keep bailing them out causing political embarrassments to him. After all he's the head of the Serious crime unit and can't even control his own daughters? When Monsonis offers him a way to avoid future embarrassments, I'm sure he jumped at the chance. I'm sure they are straight A students in college and perfect upstanding citizens now. That's my guess anyway.

Than again maybe he banging them both, too, why let some grade A pussy go to waste?  Tongue

If he does, Monsonis won't. I get a feeling that he's a bit of a bastard.

If so, I imagine Monsonis initially sold the head of SCU on the collars ability to modify their behaviour in public, then on the sly programmed them to seduce daddy for an extra hold.

What I find most appealing about this series is it's mind control institutionalized.  For example when I see a comic have a single girl tied up to a milking machine, yawn, but a line of women tied up, connected to milking machines, major turn on. It's Mind control for the masses, not just one lucky guy that happened to hold a magic crystal or possesses a secret book. I really hoping the end result of this series is world wide enslavement of women.

A brief letter to the editor from a longtime lurker:

Like: the large-scale, institutional aspect
Like: the casual dehumanization
Like: the wide and growing net of women brought under the ruby's sway
Like: the corruption and gradual transformation of women like Janice
Less great: it's difficult to distinguish among some of the characters. Annotations identifying which character appears in which page or panel would really help.
Less great: at this point it seems that the current story arc, at least, is moving towards a conclusion. I assume Gabby et al will somehow turn the tables on Monsoni and set all the rubies everywhere to self-destruct, or something similar. That's not the ending I'd like to see.  Maybe I'm wrong, and Nick installed some kind of backdoor on Gabby in issue 12, and he'll activate it and convince her to restore the rubies to full function, instead, or something.
What I'd like to see: a shift to looking at some of the other women we've seen glimpses of, and how the ruby affects them and their lives. Janice's domination of the Quine executive over the course of the last few issues was compelling.  There's a large number of characters who have been shown only briefly.

I fear that will be the case as well. Huge letdown if it does.

Of course in another medium that would be the correct and desirable ending: it makes sense in terms of plot, there's been a good three-act build to the climax, and obviously freewill/goodness should triumph over dehumanization... but not in porn!

If you read other Mind Control Comics story lines, it's never a happy ending for the women, they all get enslaved and become little more than mindless fuck machines for men to use and abuse at will. I can't see Beyond Rubies breaking tradition, I see world wide enslavement for women, it just a question who is holding the leash at the end of the story.

The only story line I recall where it's a happy ending for the women was "Saint James Infirmary", in the early issues, after he realized what the crystal was doing to the women, he released them from slavery, but they still were all very willing to keep the same group sex living arrangement, so you have to wonder were they really acting with there own free will or the crystal just made them think they had free will.

I would be most interested in seeing other story lines that build on the Beyond Rubies theme. How the Rubies transform society into a male dominated world where women only purpose in life is to serve and entertain men and there feeble attempts to escape their fate.
