I think there's no in-universe reason why all the mind controlling stuff only works on women, it's more a conceit of the narrative (PC excepted) than anything else. So rationally it shouldn't matter.

Unless you're going up against Vic, in which case you should have just brought a bunch of dudes. But apparently Q has no male friends. Go figure.
