Downstairs

I have no particular aesthetic preference of comics over stories-with-pictures or vice versa. I think Downstairs works a lot better than Bibliomancy for a technical reason: the pictures are single panels, as opposed to Bibliomancy's four panels per page with gutters between. The narrative pace of the text in the four-panel case is at odds with the implied pacing of the images. Scott McCloud yadda yadda Understanding Comics bla bla bla.
