Unless it was somewhere in northern (old) England it would have been no use to me. Plus I understand the entry requirements are pretty high. Given that there were no women whatsoever on the teaching staff in my university department (or blind people come to that), this laxity would have made no difference to me.

Jakob's amusements seem to be about tormenting others.  The hook-ups that Rain provided for in the bylaws (it was Rain, wasn't it?) seem to be about shared pleasure on a more or less equal footing.

In the library...you're right, not equal.  But this thing with Doc Compton looks mutual and without dangerous strings thanks to The Cure.  She's not threatening expulsion or holding Laura's grades hostage.  That one looks even to me...or really damn close.
