Regardless of the outcome of this, I think Daphne has writing skills that are under-appreciated by many. I think that if she wanted to sequester herself somewhere for weeks or months, she could write a really good novel.  She would probably take a pay cut as a result of lost income from writing comics and screenplays and whatever other endeavors she has going on.
Having said that, I know nothing about Daphne's life or financial situation, nor do I want or need to.  In any case, excellent writing, Daphne.

While not really porn in the real sense of the word, any of Kim Harrison's novels(i.e. Dead Witch Walking, etc) can get graphic at both ends of the spectrum (excessive sexuality <-----> excessive violence). My point is that I agree with Elbenton and good writing is not easily defined or contained by arbitrary "morals." What was once "good" writing (I'm looking at you Virginia Wolfe), may no longer be "good" today. Daphine has proven to have writing skills that rival any successful author on the market. Kudos to you Daphine!

On topic: Erin strikes me as someone very circle of lifeish. Shit happens and you deal with it. I see Danielle's death (if true) as a catalyst for both Adrian and Erin. A catalyst for inner change; perhaps a more inward reflection and decisions will need to be made. If, however, Erin pulls out some Wicca magic voodoo (yes, I just mashed three types of magic together), and saves Danielle, than I see the story pushing much more into what Harrison covers in her novels. I see this being only a good thing.

@Vidor: I don't think anyone would say that violence is sexy, and still be considered a sane or rational being, BUT if that violence serves to push the story in an unexpected direction, than it has merit. I still see this series like a novel; which is to say, I don't have a problem with the violence. To play Devil's advocate, we ARE paying for the objectification of women on a fairly extreme end of the scale. There are plenty of people who would point out that mind control or objectification of anyone isn't sexy.
