This could be about how Dani salvages the crystals or how someone intervenes to save Cait (maybe even Cait waking back up because of something stupid Derek says) or it could be how the pilot meets the bauble. Hmm.

I don't know why, but Derek looks a lot like Justin Bieber with different hair in the panels.
I am kind of unclear as to the mechanism of her resistance, though - can Adrian just "order" her to not be affected by the crystal? Or is there something else going on?

If I were to guess.... her progamming that made her Adrians was MUCH deeper reinforced (where as the current trance was a quick one of). She knows Derek is Adrians 'enemy', thus her deeper programming to please Adrian shook off the quick trance she was under, which really was just to get her out of the way in a hurry.

I guess the question is whether she snapped out of it or was faking all along. Either one seems possible. If she snapped out of it, given the dialogue and timing, it was probably Derek ordering her to fuck him that did it.
Also, that sound you hear is jmundt pumping his fist in the air screaming "Yes!" over and over until he loses his voice.

More like "Thank goodness." There's still time for another couple hairpin turns, but I really do like this development. I'd be more likely to go with faking almost the whole time, to be honest. Looks like this happened to Derek twice now. I wondered if Dani was...method acting in Derek's nerd lair while the superhero twins were falling under Adrian's sway. I found it doubtful at the time. Maybe that deserves a second look. That would seem to be a technique of self-protection worth passing on.

Perhaps the deprogramming done to the second cohort at the end of the Night of the Watch made them resistant to the pendant in the future? In that case Danielle wouldn't have been faking, but Caitlyn could have been this time.
I expect we'll learn more soon enough.

But it wasn't deprogramming. It was reprogramming over the top with The Watch. Plus, the second cohort's....er, conditioning began with the hypnocock inspiration. Something totally fun, and completely inexplicable. Plus, she's been very susceptible to Pink Clouds--but that could be something totally different. Even in the face of happy developments, there are headaches of unanswered questions. Just more fun to explore in the future.

Would Sorkin call that the southern liberal's must-have dating accessory?

After last Tuesday I don't think there are any southern liberals left.

Awesome! That made me damn happy. My thought is that the resistance occurred from the master command. Adrian was reinforced as her master forever, many times over. Even under Pink Clouds, she was aware who her master was.

Yeah, us too. Man, and I *just* re-upped for the year with Dwolla. What timing.
