Well, that gives us some good information about what happened with Jacqui, Q and Pearl back in the day, but as usual it raises some new questions as well. One of the nasty problems with all the mind control techniques floating around in this comic is that anybody who might have been exposed to them becomes an unreliable narrator. Are we learning what happened, or what Jacqui remembers happening? And if the two are different, how, and who messed with her memories?
The big question is whether and to what extent Jacqui was under the influence of Pink Clouds back when she was dating Q. My admittedly arbitrary guess is that she actually was involved in the distribution but doesn't remember due to Pink Clouds. That's also why she was going to wait for him until he got out, although it seems that suggestion may have worn off over time. I'm also a little unclear on the relationship between Q and Pearl. The guest comics strongly imply that Q used Pink Clouds on Pearl, but apparently that didn't stop her from going to the narcs and turning him in. I can't think why Q would have programmed her to do that, which implies that she did it on her own. Did Q mess up her programming? Is Pearl just resistant?

I think we might be looking at this wrong. It was a narcotics case of sorts. What makes a kingpin? Production or distribution?
I think both Jacqui and Pearl were programmed using Pink Clouds, but neither was a total success.
We saw the attraction progression with Pearl in the guest pages (aided by Pink Clouds, I think)
Then, she caught Q with the blonde.
She went to the cops. However, by the time she testified, she was more focused on Jacqui than Q (Pink Clouds again?). One would have thought that as a Ravella woman, having caught Q with his pants down, Pearl would have devoted considerable energy to barbecuing him.
It's possible that Jacqui could have been an accomplice, but I doubt it.
Jacqui's promise to wait seems to be PC influence that faded.

She's 39, and has been for the last four years. |

Tough to tell who pulled what strings and why. We found out the Elder Tarboxes are well off, maybe wealthy.
They paid Jacqui's legal expenses in criminal court, which is weird.
