Part 3--Wow!  I totally missed that.*slaps forehead*   I will reiterate that names of these characters might help (though not necessarily).  I'm thrilled we're getting another installment, and it'll be interesting to see how this all ties together.

He (Patrick Adrian, or PA) seems Irish American, but Tamar is a puzzle.  French-Canadian Jewish?  Seems that Adrian Patrick Cavanaugh (AP) was formed of the perfect clay to deal with this mix of women.

However, if his father was a student when it went co-ed, and his parents met there, clearly AP has deeper ties to this college than he let on.  Is he lying for the sake of convenience or embarrassment, or did he have an agenda that he's keeping secret?   Also notice that Adrian was born between seven and nine years after the Housing Whirlwind.  Clearly his parents were together for awhile, even if they no longer are.  Also, given their combustible chemistry, it's quite possible that AP has older siblings (though not older brothers, unless his father has George Foreman or Gattaca tendencies).  Patrick Adrian and Adrian Patrick would seem to be confusing sobriquets for two sons...unless Patrick Jr. died and AP was the fruit of reconciliation and healing...perhaps? 

Adrian (AP) seems genuinely benevolent--loving and caring, but, best case, he fled a broken heart to the place where his parents got together, hoping his luck would change.  Demosntrably, his luck changed for the better on his first day at Wilmont, though not as drastically as his old man's had nearly three decades earlier.

I was going with Adrian (AP) Cavanaugh's age as between 21 and 23.  This would mean that the Room Assignment whirlwind happened at least 7 years, but no more than 9 before his birth.

Calling Patrick a "victim" might be stretching the term a bit.  Maybe an experimental subject?  Here's the thing, the tech in the belltower looks to have been at least 20 years old when Patrick hit campus.  Is it actively switched on...quite possibly.  Do we have any idea who was controlling it or for what purpose?  Not yet.  It's important to note that Miel Tamar seems to have been quite a liberated young woman even before she arrived on campus--this encounter isn't quite a personal record for her.  Adrian could have inherited "luck" from his father, or the emanations from the belltower (if there were any) could have affected Patrick, Miel, and their children.

I like the idea of Patrick suggesting Wilmont to his son as an ideal destination to recover from a broken heart.

I'll second that.  It's a sign of truly great writing when every revelation takes you deeper down the rabbit hole, and creates two questions for every one it answers, without stepping on the toes of past revelations.

I am enjoying our trip down the rabbit hole as well.  This COULD be a breeding program, or the first phase of a multi-layered exploration of pheremones (the latest iteration of which might be Lauara and Vik's perfume experimentation).  I guess the joke/connection I was going for was that perhaps the exposure to the belltower emanations somehow changed both Patrick and Miel, and those changes were passed on to their child(ren) in interesting ways.  Might Adrian's extemporzing when faced by the challenge of Derek's programming be only partially b.s.?

My personal read on the belltower equipment was that it was from the mid-1960s, not the 1970s (think Dear Brigitte or Apollo mission NASA, not Superman).  I'm sure this will come up later and our author will step in with a definitive answer when she feels the time is right.

ETA--I saw the two other couples on the quad on reread.  Bear in mind that it's entirely possible that they just met walking around campus with considerable downtime before classes began.  A concerted effort to pair students up seems possible, but I like the idea of Patrick and Miel being a special case more.  However, both are valid.
