It didn't used to be this way. We already pay to enter(subscribe)-why are we also paying to download?
Anyone with a three-month or longer subscription term can download any regular (i.e., not bonus) comic for free. That's been true since we switched to the new system in 2017, so it's been a while.
You *can* pay to download a specific issue, either because you don't want to have a membership or a membership that long.
Old bonus issues (which are only available to subscribers at the time they are released) can be bought by someone who wasn't a subscriber at the time, after a few months.
