This is the Queen of Pentacles, a pragmatic leader. The coin she's holding has the Voynich "D," which is what Daffyd is branding the women with. The relief on the throne is the Devil, a Master/slave symbol and also the cover for Issue #1.

Excited for THK to make its return!

I had no idea the Voynich script was a thing until now. Fascinating.

Edit/Continued thoughts: The phrase associated with the BE spell seems to be gibberish, at least if directly translated I landed on obqlPynrel. I assume that's the case for all of the various spells? The use of the Voynich alphabet was to convey the idea of a foreign language artistically not literally? I suppose it wouldve been too on the nose to have made it spell out "bigger boobs" literally eh.

The more I read the Voynich Wikipedia page the less I want to. A future read perhaps but my money is on its hoax theory.

I've always felt this was one of the better written comics of the site, for what that compliments worth.  Not that other series are poorly written exactly just that this ones always felt very cohesive. Admittedly, it's difficult for me to recall character names of every single damn woman in this continuities harem but perhaps that's the point. They're all just fuck dolls now anyway...

In early issues, the spells made sense when directly transliterated from Voynich. In later issues, they were encrypted with a ROT encoding, but that was quickly understood. Now Daphne's using another cipher that none of us has worked out, and while I do miss figuring out the spells, I don't really miss it enough to mount a large effort to decrypt.

All things considered, still my favorite unipath story on the site.

I like it dark.

Yeah, it also seems to treat the "darkness" with the right amount of gravity.

The tig bam ditties don't hurt either.

I do wish we had a good translation of the current iteration of the script, that was more fun to figure out back in the day.

I interpret the ever-increasing cipher as representing Daffyd's increasing skill with the Book. His power is beyond our comprehension now.

Just as I feared. As soon as I finished reading it there was no more to read...

I hate waiting between issues.

(I also miss being able to decipher the magic words)

I find it amusing that Daphne has decided to keep it an actual, tangible, language of sorts rather than just giving up the ghost. If she's eluded discovery this long, good on her. I'm certainly neither skilled enough or concerned enough to attempt to decrypt it mayelf.

The interpretation that Daffyd had just become too powerful for our minds to comprehend is more fun anyway.
