I see your cameo, Daphne.
Good speech in the middle there. Well said.
Popped in to mention the Daphne cameo too. That was fun. I remember wondering back in issue 13/14 is Melissa Cohen might have been a clever Daphne self-insert (though I think she does show up earlier), since she was badass, confident and cared about the people in her industry.
I really liked Christina's and Judith's interview here. It did feel like a bit of a soap box, but I think it was well earned. There's been a good sex-positive/porn-positive message throughout the series, and I've often assumed that all of the friendly, compassionate industry folks who pop up are probably based on all the positive things Daphne, and the rest of the MCT team and collaborators have encountered over the years.
It actually reminds me a bit of following Daphne's MCT Twitter, which has a nice healthy dose of advice for performers and producers, wisdom about the industry, and retweets of performers very happy to recommend working with MCT. It's absolutely one of the most wholesome accounts I follow on social media, all things considered.
Anyway, back to Checkered Past
I'm glad Christina, Judith and Zach got their happy ending. It was well earned. That said, as others have mentioned, it would have been nice to see some closure with Detective Godel. We can maybe hope for a bonus issue some day in the future, if Daphne has a good idea.
What a great 12 year journey though. It's interesting to look back and see how far Montalis' art has come in that time. I still like the look of the early issues, but the decade+ of improvement really shows.
(CornHub gave me a good chuckle, though I momentarily misread it as 'GornHub' at first, and I'm not sure which if funnier).
This was always one I looked forward to while it showed up in the schedule, and I think the ending lives up to that.
