Maybe the onomatopoeia at the top of page 9? It was very subtle, and if not for that comment I probably wouldn't have noticed.

"Splush" is probably a reference to the TV show "Archer", which had a running gag of women saying that when they saw a good-looking man. (And on one memorable occasion a gay man, on seeing an attractive man, said "Whatever the male equivalent of 'splush' is... which I guess would be 'splush'.")

I think it was "sploosh" on Archer. This appears to be just what it looks like, him splashing a bunch of water on his face with an "uh" sound.

As much as I would love to take credit for a hip-and-with-it pop culture reference, sometimes a splush is just a splush, and the one on page 11 was a lettering goof. Fixed.

If it makes you feel any better I'm not sure Archer references would be considered 'hip-and-with-it' any more. The show peaked years ago.
