Sorry, it's a Dave Barry joke.  My first impression of the cover was that this was a...unique mix of the Fast Times bikini scene, and women's bodybuilding.  There's a running gag in the film and book Big Trouble (set in Miami) about women's bodybuilding on ESPN 2 which seems to have a hypnotic power over any man who has the channel turned on.  Periodically, crazy stupid people show up and interrupt the entertainment by waving guns around incompetently, and shorthand for most characters is that any complete idiot is a Gator fan (as in University of Florida).  Another running gag to explain this categorization involves the inane sportstalk that can be found in the city.  There's a bit with a sportstalk host mocking Gator fans for being fairweather and one hapless such fan calls in to refute the charge, but doesn't get the joke.  The DJ spends what must be two hours explaining to the guy how he's insulting him and the caller doesn't get it.  Note--this is before the rise of Feinbaum when SEC talk radio officially left the reservation.

I thought the name did that just fine by itself.  Maybe the plan is to run this like Jaws.  An insinuated ominous threat that isn't revealed until late in the game.
