Also, scary thought: Einfreidur was part of the team searching for Jakob. Do we have any proof apart from her say-so that she didn't find him? She could easily have been programmed by Jakob to spy on his brother; we know that at least one of his other employees is feeding information to another team. How badly compromised is Johannes' organization? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: laguna85 on December 12, 2014, 01:25:28 am yes guest page # 14
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: jmundt29 on December 12, 2014, 06:20:09 am I think we saw Johannes recruit her in the guest pages.
May I take this moment to say, I'm VERY disappointed in Mr. Cantor's choice in clients. I know we had prior warning. I'm still mad. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: GodWilling on December 12, 2014, 12:13:59 pm That's a great teaser shot selection...
I was thinking it was ridiculous to think she may have been recruited by Jakob because she was up there and he was down there and how on earth would that work, and all. But I suppose it's possible that she could have spotted Jakob and Dani and picked them up and been recruited by them. But... presumably there's more than one crew member in those coastguard helicopters. And I imagine if they had found something then they'd have radioed that in before attempting a pick-up. And she did seem to be in constant radio contact. I suppose it's too much to ask that there's something in the coffee besides the Coffee-Mate? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: Haight on December 13, 2014, 01:16:29 pm I'm still wondering if Johannes is going to turn out to be a villain or not.
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: jmundt29 on December 14, 2014, 07:06:03 am Seems like starting out assuming the villainy of any new male character we meet is a good default position. Zenon, Derek, Q-Ball, Yves, Sawyer, Vik, Julian, Jakob...the only non-nefarious guys we've met so far seem to be the husband in that aviation business and...maybe Hans. Mr. Cantor is damaging my trust in him with his taste in clients.
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: mns_95125 on December 14, 2014, 12:02:54 pm Weston? I know you dislike him but I'd hardly call him nefarious.
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: GodWilling on December 14, 2014, 01:20:59 pm Plus we kind of started out assuming Johannes was a villain anyway. It's just that his appearance in the main narrative has been a little at odds with his guest page appearances.
And isn't the jury still out on Q? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: laguna85 on December 14, 2014, 03:31:24 pm husband in that aviation business is Chuck

Okay--IF he weren't part of one of the depressing rolls of the Dice of Destiny, my hatred of him might not be as intense. However, he operates on the same sort of Lucky Messy Dog principles as Coates. He has a gorgeous girlfriend, but he's always on the make for himself...IN FRONT of his girlfriend. That's not a great way to meet a character. And the one time we saw him in a nontoxic or annoying stance, he lucked into being present for Pearl being pleasured by spanking. Karma is LATE catching up with him. Coates is potentially worse. He's married to someone gorgeous but has a long-term...er, dalliance with a cheerleader and has swept up another one. Now, if it turns out that he's done all this to make his wife happy so they can share, he's just a lucky trainable dog. If not, then part of the future of this comic should be Coates, Weston, and Derek lining up in three "Punching Booths" to raise money for charity. Same principle as a kissing booth. For your donation you can haul off and punch one of the three of them in the nose or jaw. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: GodWilling on December 15, 2014, 12:30:45 pm But Weston's gorgeous girlfriend kissed Erin in front of him, and was really responsible for picking up Miriam.
Apropos of not very much, I wonder if there's a link between Astrid and Claudia. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: jmundt29 on December 15, 2014, 12:42:43 pm I said the Pearl thing was his least offensive moment, though I hate the fact that his mere presence preemptively wrecks what could be my favorite splash page of the series when we get back to it. And also, even if Reka's kiss with Erin could be construed by some...twi...I mean vindictive, ill-informed person as somehow injurious to Weston, that's the MILDEST form of payback for his rehearsal behavior I could imagine.
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: GodWilling on December 15, 2014, 01:06:45 pm But have we seen him really make the first move with anyone in front of Réka?
I don't think she would have cared about him overdoing it with Erin at the rehearsal; I get the impression she'd have done the same thing herself. But I don't think she was there to see it anyway. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: jmundt29 on December 15, 2014, 03:49:33 pm That entire conversation where he's picking Erin up in the middle of rehearsal, Reka's standing THREE FEET AWAY. She's directing that play!! Unless she's clinically deaf, she heard him. And even if she is clinically deaf, I'm sure she can read body language.
When she picked up Miriam, it wasn't for herself--it was for couple fun. There's no indication she was excluding Weston with that kiss, but his hard sell during rehearsal doesn't seem to include her (which, frankly, is stupid. Erin's bi, attracted to his girlfriend, knows they're going out, and is famous for picking her teeth with fools and cheaters). GRRRR!! All that combined with his cocky cavalier look makes him seem like the embodiment of the "skinny guys" from Louis C.K.'s HBO special last year. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 356: Pit Stop. Post by: GodWilling on December 15, 2014, 04:22:28 pm The director of the play is Arielle Oceans; we didn't see Réka there. And to be fair, the kiss is part of the play; it just went on a little longer than was called for. And that was presumably a mutual effort. Perhaps it was an early sign of the bell tower's effect.
