That's a good way to look at it. I've never liked R rated movies for violence and death. I tend to like only the ones leaning toward adult action. This scene was very much of a downer when I first read it. It wasn't something I was looking for. After all, I'm mostly here to read about adult type fun. To far and Erin may not do it this time. Now what will Mallory pick up after Cherry death? who will be the New eve? Poor Derek no one want him. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 354: 3.8 Liters. Post by: GodWilling on December 09, 2014, 04:26:51 pm This is reminding me of Vidor's comments when Dani was nearly killed: "You know what isn't sexy? Violent death, that's what." I hold this truth to be self-evident.
Anyway I'm pretty certain that this page is supposed to remind us of that incident. And presumably it's going to be important because, while Julian's been given a valuable "what goes around comes around" lesson, I'm not sure he's going to just take that on-board and learn from it. Incidentally I can't look at the mountainside at the bottom of the page without seeing faces there. I know this is not an uncommon phenomenon but it's instilling the whole scene with even more foreboding. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 354: 3.8 Liters. Post by: Daphne on December 09, 2014, 04:40:36 pm I cannot guarantee 100% sexiness in SJI, sorry. Do not worry, though; the sexy will return.

I have to point out that, unlike in Dani's case, Cherry was very much asking for it. She was a willing accomplice in an attempted kidnapping and rape, and was in the process of directing a physical assault that would put just about anyone in reasonable fear of injury or death. Caitlyn has a slam-dunk case for self-defense. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 354: 3.8 Liters. Post by: GodWilling on December 10, 2014, 11:49:13 am On the one hand, I think I said Julian and Cherry were asking for it with the "what goes around comes around" statement. If Cherry has indeed died, she could simply have done it in the environs of the airport car park. It's happening here instead for the purposes of drama, surely.
On the other hand... we don't know what excuses C&J might have for their behaviour, or what motivated them. And we don't really know how innocent or otherwise Dani is (or Mallory come to that). On the surface Dani has stolen, and she's been involved in kidnapping and assisted in multiple rapes. And she sabotaged a watch. We don't know ultimately that the SJI harem is fighting for a justifiable cause. But their boobies and bottoms are first rate. EDIT: I hate finding myself having to change 'they're' to 'their'. I am so tired at the moment. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 355: 3.8 Liters. Post by: jmundt29 on December 11, 2014, 09:33:36 am Here's a question. Why was her blood magic beast still tracking Cait and guests as she was bleeding out?
Also, I can't get a read on Julian and Cherry. They seemed like coconspirators, cohorts, fellow minions--and now all of a sudden, it seems like a tragic romance of some sort. Does this mean that Julian is about to become the real threat...much more so than Jakob? I should also note that I believe Erin might have intervened to save Cherry's worthless (yet shapely) behind if she'd been there. Maybe it's just because I'm used to the version of Erin with her defensive walls down. I have no doubt that the version of her that was walking around before New Year's would have walked or driven away from Cherry, calling "Good riddance" or something saltier over her shoulder. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 354: 3.8 Liters. Post by: GodWilling on December 11, 2014, 12:56:21 pm I cannot guarantee 100% sexiness in SJI, sorry. Do not worry, though; the sexy will return. Recalling a different but very much equivalent conversation with Vidor, I said SJI was so much more than just porn and he essentially said it wasn't. But then he was complaining because there was stuff in it that really wasn't sexy... It seemed a bit like saying: "This porn is terrible. So far that guy hasn't done anything but sit there and tell us the news." Obviously I don't know what's going to happen with Julian here. I don't know if Cherry has actually died, or is going to die. So perhaps this page is important in a way I can't understand yet. But just simply in terms of what I'm seeing: there's the throwback to the attempt on the life of Dani (or Mallory) and the knowledge we have of Cherry's and/or Julian's involvement in that; there's the revelation (or perhaps confirmation) of the relationship between Cherry and Julian; and further to that there's the humanization of two people who hitherto have mostly been presented as sinister villains - because whoever they are, this is a human tragedy. Perhaps the next episode will undercut much of that. Perhaps Cherry will start laughing à la Erin at her rehearsal. That I almost hope she will is testament to the power of this page. I won't complain when the sexy returns, but it isn't what I love SJI for. (Sorry mns_95125: but it isn't for what I love SJI. There, that's much better.) Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 355: 3.8 Liters. Post by: jmundt29 on December 11, 2014, 05:07:22 pm Maybe this is the karmic wraparound for Julian's attack on Dani. I'm also a little confused because this didn't look like a major thoracic injury, but a flesh wound...maybe a "creasing." Is she reacting to it because she put so much of her blood and power into that...whatever-it-is?
This sequence is unexpectedly affecting, especially given Cherry's AWFUL track record. Kudos. I will say that I hoped that her comeuppance would involve sexy fun for the members of the SJI she tried to manipulate. Her temporarily taking Raven's place in Erin's hierarchy might have been an interesting and fun way for her deceit to catch up with her. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 354: 3.8 Liters. If we're going to be Grammar Nazis about it, and they are one of the less offensive kinds of Nazi, it should probably be "but it isn't that for which I love SJI". ;D Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 355: 3.8 Liters.
