(We're almost at the fourth anniversary of SJI, believe it or not, so a little bit of an early premiere today.)

Brilliant.  Danielle rocks.  The past few issues have been great, and this reveal is the best yet.

My only problem with SJI these days?  Running out of superlatives.

"I sabotaged The Watch."   Really? ???

Was someone telling a fun white lie on the Night of the Watch?  How does that change Adrian's relationship (or our understanding of his relationship) to his harem...all of whom he seems to care for deeply?

I'm seeing it as the watch doing what we believe it does but that not being what Jakob wanted it to do. But maybe she just means it gains a minute every day.

What did Jakob want it to do?  It seems to create a fully conscious and willing harem.  His problem with that is...what?  He's an idiot? ???  ::)

What was the sabotage, I wonder?

I wonder if the sabotage had something to do with whatever made Dani decide Adrian was her master on the Night of the Watch - she clearly knew, at least subconsciously, that Jakob was alive, so...

Well, it's not inconceivable that it led to him having to fake his own death in order to escape from the trouble it bought him.

We don't know much about Jakob yet.

Well, except that the remains of his presence and lifestyle in his apartment made Derek say "Holy shit that's twisted and scary!"  Or something to that effect.   When a puppy like Derek is alarmed, it does not bode well.

I don't think we have enough information to speculate meaningfully about the nature of the sabotage.  I also wonder about the timing.  Was the sabotage part of the initial construction, or something introduced later in a modification?

Also, Danielle's comment in 334 fits perfectly as a follow-up to the box comment in the top rung of 333, which implies two things.  First, the theory that 333 is meant to be read bottom to top picks up some more support.  Second, the other box comment in 333 is more likely to also be from Danielle.

When he opened the door he said "Jesus Christ" and appeared to be reacting to a smell. But he didn't need to cover his nose or mouth when he was in what looked like a bedroom. Looking through drawers full of clothes in there he told Claudia, "Your boss is one sick fuck." If all the clothes were women's, he could simply have been misinterpreting the meaning of that.



I more or less agree with all that. It's also worth noting that 333 starts (at the bottom) with Miriam telling Erin what Jakob did to her, i.e. answering the question posed at the end of 332. I'm guessing that the hand catching the crystals in 333 is Dani's.

Also of interest is Dani's reaction to Cherry's questioning in 267 about her making the watch: "I thought... I do not know what I thought we were making. I did not know what he would do with it. To me. To all of us."

When Cherry says Jakob sent Dani to Kearsarge with the watch to get Erin, Dani says "I am so sorry. I did not know." She seems to know what she came to Kearsarge for now though. Cherry says that the plan went wrong because "He wasn't very smart. He set it up all wrong." Perhaps that's a reference to the sabotage.

One of the few things I've ever got right about SJI (in the thread for g10) is that red shiny objects are significant. And just when Cherry's explaining that Dani came to Kearsarge to get Erin, redheaded Erin just happens to have turned herself into a red shiny object with that dress. (I know, I know - she's not an object, she's a woman.) But it wasn't Erin that Dani came for, apparently, it was a scallop. A red shiny scallop. Hmmm.

It appears from what we're seeing here that Erin is able to at least help women who've been subjected to the power of the crystal. If there's the slightest glimmer of truth in what Cherry was saying, why would Jakob have gone so far out of his way to get his hands on Erin specifically?

I've thought that it's possible that Jakob was, say, crippled in the crash and he needs Erin to heal him? Or he's just old and thinks that Erin may have the out for eternal life.

I'm still unclear about the chronology of when he's supposed to have sent Dani to Wilmot - or Miriam come to that. If there was actually a crash, and Dani was flying the plane, then she appears to have got off remarkably lightly.

She could have hit the silk and sabotaged his chute.  If she were desperate enough, I can see her doing that.

First, Pearl didn't flee when Weston broached the subject of sex, she nixed it.  She still spent the night, and they had a lot of fun (which apparently included spanking Pearl).

It appears that Pearl's memories of intercourse with Q are spurious and she nixed sex with Weston (thank gracious) when the subject was offered.  Why do you think the programmed block/prohibition is anal sex specifically and not sex, period? ???

I'll point out at that no point has Miriam said she had vaginal coitus with Q.

I for one have never said the block is on anal sex. I think she hasn't been able to have... yeah, let's go with vaginal coitus. I just suspect that "I've never had a man inside me" means she hasn't had anal sex either.

I think 333 makes it clear that she only thought she'd had sex with Q.

Possibly laguna85 is reading the second panel of 333 as Erin touching Miriam's bum and Miriam saying "No one could touch me there..." ?



Yeah, my suspicion is that there never was a crash and that Jakob just needed to go into hiding. As a flight of fancy, he may have foiled a plot to make his plane crash but decided to pretend that it had succeeded (I say that because it leaves open the possibility that Johannes was trying to murder Jakob).

I know Jakob disappeared about a year ago, but when did he send Dani to Wilmot to find another scallop? Was it before or after that? Dani has an MA from Wilmot - I don't think she could have obtained that in the time after the crash. That suggests she was at Wilmot earlier than that - as do some of her shirts in the glimpses we've seen of her history. So did Jakob send her to Wilmot to find a scallop before he disappeared, or after? That seems important to me because I'm interested in whether the watch was only "sabotaged" after the crash, or whether it was right from the start.
