Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: jmundt29 on September 17, 2014, 11:43:05 am Interesting. Splash at the end of the sequence, however long it is? (Although, the art to open this sequence was gorgeous in its own right).

Oh, are we still doing "Phrasing!"? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: GodWilling on September 18, 2014, 01:17:35 am Well to be fair, I never was...
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: jmundt29 on September 18, 2014, 03:22:59 am And on the subject of the actual ep...
What. The. HELL??? ??? ??? ??? :o :o ;D Raven does have an absolutely gorgeous rear, and we haven't seen it in quite awhile. So, on that score--Excellent. As far as what this actually means? Um, I confess I'm even more lost than usual. Is Raven a practitioner? Is Lenore's family originally from New York? Is this just a dreamscape construct? ??? Obviously, the art is fantastic. Kudos PK and Octavia. ;D ;D ;D ETA--Augh!! *slams head against treetrunk*. Octavia does blue-for-black highlights recently with most of the black-haired women in these eps (and I just wasn't paying attention). She did blue-for-black in Pearl's hair the previous ep and blue-for-black in Jacqui's the ep before that. In "current" depictions of Pearl, she has purple-for-black highlights which...huh? But that's another subject. I assume the purple in Raven's hair isn't for contrast but part of her fashion sense as Raven instead of Lenore. And hence, the second entry in this series makes a lot more sense. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: GodWilling on September 18, 2014, 06:03:10 am I can't help feeling it's counterproductive to keep praising the art while simultaneously misidentifying the characters.
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Werdna on September 18, 2014, 06:23:24 am Jmundt- I'm pretty sure this is still Miriam, a direct continuation from Tuesday's. Erin is showing Miriam what really happened, not what she remembers.
I'm guessing that this will result in some thawing between Jacqui and her daughter. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Haight on September 18, 2014, 06:27:19 am Thawing means hot, right? I'm *hoping* that this will result in some hotness between Jacqui and her daughter.
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: jmundt29 on September 18, 2014, 07:27:39 am Apologies. There's a strip of purple in her hair, and while there is a little coloration in Pearl's hair, um I never remember it being that prominent.
And see edit above. But another interesting question--her fake memory was taking place in New York? or this is just Erin providing a portal in space-time from Past Kearsage Memories that never happened to Past New York Memories that did happen. Last, and this might actually be of some use. While the combination of Erin's eyes and the set of her face and mouth give the impression of alarm at the end of 325, the dilation of her eyes is very similar to Pearl's. Is it possible that this is just her reaction to passing into dreamstate? Or did she see both the fake stuff and the actual memories and it alarmed her, and now she's leading Pearl and her fantastic rump (which we have see MUCH more recently, but it's still a very nice view) ;) to the truth. And another question brought on by my recent debacle in observation. Looking back, I notice that recently our attention has been called to the fact that Claudia has dark-red highlights in her black hair. Could Dani's targeting of her have been part of a mistake by Jakob? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: GodWilling on September 18, 2014, 09:04:09 am Thawing means hot, right? I'm *hoping* that this will result in some hotness between Jacqui and her daughter. Perhaps a little freeze-thaw action would see some cracks opening up. Looking back, I notice that recently our attention has been called to the fact that Claudia has dark-red highlights in her black hair. Could Dani's targeting of her have been part of a mistake by Jakob? It's been remarked upon a few times that dark-haired Claudia wears a collar and has purple(/violet) eyes - much like Raven. So if we're mistaking Miriam for Raven then a Miriam/Claudia mix-up looks possible. But as I see it Claudia led to Echo, and thereby led to Adrian's break-up - and I suspect that that was the aim. And after all, when Dani inducted Claudia, someone else was there to take the polaroids. But the shift to New York here does perhaps suggest a shift to Jakob. It would be interesting to know what Miriam's actual recollection of the events with Q and Annie was up to this point. (Annie still looks a lot like Katie when rendered by PK/OM, btw.) The implication of the previous page was that Q used Pink Clouds on her to make her think that she'd flirted with him and that they had sex and she never saw Annie. So what has she been believing happened all these years? That she had sex with Q? Would it have been wise to make her think that, rather than just to make her forget having seen Q and Annie? I mean, unless Annie is someone really important, how is it better for Q to have Pearl believing that she had sex with him? The whole scene really makes no sense to me. So is the whole thing an implanted memory? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: jmundt29 on September 18, 2014, 11:45:53 am Actually, I was thinking something more drastic. If you remember way back in the beginning of the strip, Erin had very dark tips and dark red hair. I was wondering if Dani had been pushed by Jakob toward someone with Dark hair and red highlights and landed on Claudia instead of Erin.
Although A. Claudia's supposed to be significantly taller than Erin, B. We have no evidence Erin's ever been to NYC, and C. If this were the case, what did Jakob think when Dani brought Claudia home. "Oops! Oh well, WTF. She's hot anyway. Why not have some fun?" Although, given what little we know about Jakob, that does sound like something he'd do if his plans brought in the wrong hot girl. However, if targeting Claudia was a mistake, that could mean that reeling in Echo was a dumb freaky accident caused by an incompetent power-drunk oligarch. Wouldn't that make Adrian's arrival at Wilmot at least 40% accidental (if we believe he hasn't deliberately omitted something from his story)? Unlikely. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: GodWilling on September 18, 2014, 12:34:45 pm On a similar, ahem, tip, did we establish any firm theory as to who the naked woman is who's looking out of the Wall Street apartment window in Dani's last flashback (154)? I think someone suggested Claudia but her hair looks to be the same style in the polaroids (and Adrian's backstory) as it is now - and I don't think that's long enough at the back. This woman's hair appears to be reddish brown and long and straight. It looks too brown to be Echo but it could be her. Mallory's looks like a closer fit, but I don't know. It just looks like it's a significant person.
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Haight on September 18, 2014, 03:44:29 pm Maybe it's the Master's wife?
As far as derrieres go, Miriam's is quite shapely. I seem to remember Jen's being quite the piece as well, even if we've only seen her in jeans. Obviously the artists on this comic are huge fans of gigantic busts, but I am totally in the callipygian fan club camp as well. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: GodWilling on September 18, 2014, 07:02:06 pm Maybe it's the Master's wife? Maybe it's his mother - do we know he's not only twelve, or something? I am totally in the callipygian fan club camp as well. I quite liked their early stuff. What I mainly remember about Jen is that she used a thin tight top as a substitute for a bra. And it was good. But yes, there was definitely some kind of counterweight there too. Perhaps Derek will make use of her services again now that he's back in the fray? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: jmundt29 on September 18, 2014, 07:12:16 pm As I keep bringing up, I think Cool Times Ten Jen would get along famously with Unflappable Sue. And Unflappable Sue hasn't really been rewarded for her ability to take all the craziness of her town in stride.
And here's our vocabulary question for the night. How did an adjective referring to the nymph Callypso come to mean have a well-formed rear? I don't recall the full translation of the Odyssey that I read rhapsodizing her derriere. Thoughts? Insights? Anyone...Bueller? ;) Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: mns_95125 on September 18, 2014, 08:08:45 pm Perhaps a little freeze-thaw action would see some cracks opening up. Phrasing! Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: GodWilling on September 18, 2014, 08:35:45 pm Perhaps a little freeze-thaw action would see some cracks opening up. Phrasing!lol (Timing!) As I keep bringing up, I think Cool Times Ten Jen would get along famously with Unflappable Sue. And Unflappable Sue hasn't really been rewarded for her ability to take all the craziness of her town in stride. OK, you keep setting them up; I'm happy to oblige... I have to say Sue's one appearance in one panel of the story, 320 pages ago, in which she uttered precisely three words, didn't give me that much to get excited about. And, I mean, why reward the unflappable anyway? I'd be happy to watch Jen rewarding any number of flaps. Ding! There you go... To be honest an animated gif of Jen wearing that top and breathing would pretty much suffice for me. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Daphne on September 18, 2014, 08:38:00 pm Sue's actually been in the book twice, now. :)
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: jmundt29 on September 18, 2014, 09:11:31 pm Really? Oh wait? Was she the waitress on one of Adrian's dates with the Honeywell twins? I don't remember her anyplace other than our first window into Derek's "investigative forays."
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Haight on September 19, 2014, 12:05:11 am Sue's actually been in the book twice, now. :) When's the second? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Daphne on September 19, 2014, 12:05:55 am Sue's actually been in the book twice, now. :) When's the second? I'm not going to just tell you! Where's the fun in that? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Haight on September 19, 2014, 12:14:18 am Well, if it's actually kind of a secret... that's fascinating.
If it really is something banal, then you're just being needlessly cryptic lol. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Daphne on September 19, 2014, 12:14:54 am you're just being needlessly cryptic lol. I would have thought you'd have figured that out about me by now. :) Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Haight on September 19, 2014, 12:16:27 am You're not counting the 'dramatis personae' page, are you?
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Daphne on September 19, 2014, 12:17:00 am You're not counting the 'dramatis personae' page, are you? No, no, that would be cheating. Comics page. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: laguna85 on September 19, 2014, 12:42:26 am So each time that Danielle Fall out the window is to break the Memory block that she have.
She been under a lot Mind Control and there are a lot Memory block. So this Flash page is show that Erin have away to unblock and clear there mind and may break the control there mind. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: GodWilling on September 19, 2014, 02:36:53 am So each time that Danielle Fall out the window is to break the Memory block that she have. In which case, what exactly was going on in 176? Was that Jakob trying to help Dani? How did she end up at the Saint James Infirmary? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Haight on September 19, 2014, 09:32:21 am My take on it is that Jakob is hiding his cruelty in the current page. We know he liked to torment his girls.
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: GodWilling on September 19, 2014, 09:56:28 am Hmmm. I'm not sure we do know that, which is not to say we're wrong to think it. But is Erin tormenting Miriam here or helping her?
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary 330: Memory Hole, 2 Post by: Haight on September 19, 2014, 10:00:14 am I call it tough love.
