Title: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Daphne on June 30, 2014, 08:15:00 pm We're doing something different here... the first issue in The Chrysalis shared universe!
(http://mindcontrolcomics.com/covers/chrysalis-i08-p00.jpg) Note: This comic has no word balloons. Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Haight on June 30, 2014, 08:27:17 pm As in it's got the writing on the side or below, or it's just without talking?
Letterer being unreliable or was it planned this way? Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Daphne on June 30, 2014, 08:28:00 pm Letterer being unreliable or was it planned this way? Planned that way; I wouldn't release it without lettering unless it was intended to not have it. :-) Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: jmundt29 on July 01, 2014, 10:12:54 am Shared Universe with whom?
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Daphne on July 01, 2014, 10:40:25 am Shared Universe with whom? The existing Chrysalis stories. Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: raven on July 01, 2014, 06:28:58 pm I know I'm excited!
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: michaelscheppard on July 02, 2014, 12:13:39 am is she an elf. dose that mean Chrysalis takes place in a modern fantasy world(im probably overthinging things). this seems more like sideshow then the rest of the Chrysalis storys, maybe this should have been sideshow 2
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Haight on July 02, 2014, 12:23:58 am Elves? Really?
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Daphne on July 02, 2014, 12:50:44 am Wow, that's all we get?
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Salanar on July 02, 2014, 01:47:07 am This took an unexpected turn, universe-wise. I'm fond of exposition, so I hope this was intended as a backdrop edition. Nevertheless, this is first-rate, excellent art. The possibilities are clearly endless and I'm very interested to see where this goes.
Elves? Really? Elves just make things more interesting. Besides, some of the best drawn characters in a variety of other universes turned out to be the elves. And If I may sidetrack, I think LOTR Elves are the best presented Elves in movieland that I can think of. Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Werdna on July 02, 2014, 07:45:13 am The art in this issue was absolutely great. I can't recall any other art by Seigou here - was there any? In any case, can we hope that we can see more of Seigou's art in the future?
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: michaelscheppard on July 02, 2014, 08:53:21 am I just had a thought, what if the elf captain is the descendant of a previous victim. Again maybe im over thinking things
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: GodWilling on July 02, 2014, 10:59:33 am .
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: tods1976 on July 02, 2014, 02:07:28 pm Awesome art. Hope to see a lot more of Seigou. Only problem was that we had to wait so long to get to the use of the Chrysalis.
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: hereno on July 02, 2014, 05:42:57 pm She goes through all that trouble and danger to get the Chrysalis for him... and then he uses it on her? That's... horrible... and... super-hot...
...I'm a terrible person. Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Haight on July 02, 2014, 06:34:39 pm You know it's temporary. You can pull them back out of it.
Plus we know it feels nice. What's so bad about it? Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Geo on July 02, 2014, 06:45:40 pm Absolutely stunning.
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Salanar on July 03, 2014, 01:05:04 am One could argue we're all terrible people. But its all really just semantics. If this could be done for real, than I think the moral quandary should be considered more carefully.
....Nah I'm still a terrible person. Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: jmundt29 on July 03, 2014, 07:11:02 am The art is gorgeous here. However, I confess I was disappointed that the Chrysalis took Elfin Captain Dr. Francine Drake-Jones and turned her into a harem girl. What a waste.
That being said--this opens up a myriad of possibilities for the future of Chrysalis. And yes, please continue to commission this artist. Wow! Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: laguna85 on July 03, 2014, 08:02:52 am All the danger and killing She gone through, He turn her into sex toy. He did not pay the Crew or Her?
remember He can turn her Back Great story Drawing!! Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: jmundt29 on July 04, 2014, 07:47:56 pm Does this just mean that the monarch is frustrated because his wife is frigid and exhibits a limited imagination in front of the Chrysalis for the first few minutes, or is he pathologically incapable of expanding his fantasies or appreciating strong women?
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Salanar on July 06, 2014, 02:12:08 am ...Or wanted his women easier to control. /shrug
Just saying there's appeal in having hassle-free sex Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: i_zack on July 07, 2014, 10:53:57 am The art is tremendous, but one of the things I love about MCC is that your dialog is really pretty awesome. No dialog means less awesome. Definitely hope the dialog kicks back in soon.
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Daphne on July 07, 2014, 10:54:45 am Definitely hope the dialog kicks back in soon. Gah, you do ONE SILENT PIECE, and... :) (And thank you for the kind words!) Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: i_zack on July 07, 2014, 11:01:47 am Definitely hope the dialog kicks back in soon. Gah, you do ONE SILENT PIECE, and... :) (And thank you for the kind words!) You're welcome. But truly: The dialog in Hidden Knowledge and St. James Infirmary in particular is great. St. James Infirmary sometimes reminds me of Alison's Bechdel's "Dykes to Watch Out For" that way, honestly (uh, with mind control and hetero sex, of course); funny, sharp, wry, quick-witted. The interplay between Erin and Adrian is particularly wonderful, IMO. So yeah, I miss dialog. :) Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: laguna85 on July 07, 2014, 11:07:40 am Definitely hope the dialog kicks back in soon. Gah, you do ONE SILENT PIECE, and... :) (And thank you for the kind words!) I think you did Two and half Silent Piece this one /The one start it (Side Show) , Wonder box in till Last page. I like silent Piece, that I can add my own dialog to it Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Daphne on July 07, 2014, 12:18:48 pm St. James Infirmary sometimes reminds me of Alison's Bechdel's "Dykes to Watch Out For" Oh, blush, blush, blush! Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Geo on July 07, 2014, 08:44:26 pm I recently did a piece that is basically GI Joe with Cobra bimbo bombs. The first issue was an homage to GI Joe issue 21. I was made to add dialogue. Shouldn't have used that as issue one. Lesson learned.
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: michaelscheppard on July 08, 2014, 12:00:23 am I recently did a piece that is basically GI Joe with Cobra bimbo bombs. The first issue was an homage to GI Joe issue 21. I was made to add dialogue. Shouldn't have used that as issue one. Lesson learned. can you tell us where to find that, it sounds interesting.Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Salanar on July 09, 2014, 01:10:59 am agreed.
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Geo on July 09, 2014, 08:00:52 pm It's going to be months before it sees publishing, and it's in rather bad taste to advertise my stuff on Daphne's site.
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Daphne on July 09, 2014, 08:05:07 pm We do have a board just for that. (http://mindcontrolcomics.com/forum/index.php?board=12.0)
Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: Michael Knight on July 10, 2014, 07:20:24 pm I absolutely ADORED the artwork for this. I actually somewhat prefer 2d to 3d artwork, as, ironically, I can actually perceive it as more realistic, without the "uncanny valley" effect. I enjoyed the subtlety of the silent piece, too. Definitely like more by this author. The bastardry of the king-dude was also on an epic level (and I have absolutely no problem with elves ^.^)
As for fantasy universe vs ours, who's to say that carnival doesn't wander the dimensional roads as well as the conventional ones Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: sohta123 on August 23, 2014, 02:54:46 pm The best in this series IMO. And one of the best done period.
Love the story and the exceptional artwork. The main character is so freakin' hot. Hope to see more done in this vein. Title: Re: The Chrysalis #8 Post by: av0999 on December 12, 2014, 07:27:13 pm Could do with a continuation of this chapter. I love the Pirate Elf by the way.
