Is this another of our spinning tumbler of possible futures? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: laguna85 on March 29, 2013, 10:03:41 pm So tomorrow we find out Whom have the death in the family or two hours
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: mns_95125 on March 30, 2013, 12:06:16 am Um, okay.
I can't contextualize this at all. There's no date specified -- could be past, could be future. Am I supposed to recognize any of these people apart from Danielle? I will say this, though: Montalis draws purty. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: jmundt29 on March 30, 2013, 12:08:05 am What the? :o ??? What is this? :o When did this happen? ??? Oh, Kuppler. OH! *slams fist into forehead* >:( ::) Okay, so El Magnifico is one of the Kuppler brothers, and the Kuppler family runs a giant, insidious, very profitable multinational. He disappeared at sea much the style of Amelia Earhart or JFK Jr. What is the blonde pilot's name? That looked like a term of endearment in German (or some related language) not an actual name.
That isn't Dani, is it? If it is Dani, this could be how she got the watch and snuck away, but those proportions don't look like Dani. ETA--apparently, El Magnifico is Jakob Kuppler. Jakob and Johannes--did their parents like J names or are they twins? Was Jakob the older or the younger brother? I think from context, this has to be relatively recent because it explains Claudia not being able to find El Magnifico and hoping he's dead. This would suggest that he disappeared...what maybe on Harem Night? If this is current, then the blonde can't be Dani. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: mns_95125 on March 30, 2013, 12:38:59 am Oh, Kuppler. OH! *slams fist into forehead* Ah, found the reference -- #114. Subtle. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: GodWilling on March 30, 2013, 02:54:15 am .
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: Daphne on March 30, 2013, 09:22:15 am (Hopefully she's a werewolf too, mind.) No spoilers! Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: Daphne on March 30, 2013, 12:56:16 pm There's an Icelandic form which is Einfridur, except the 'd' is an eth - a 'd' with a line through it. Let's see how the Unicode handling on this thing is: Einfríður. There we go! Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: GodWilling on March 30, 2013, 01:55:49 pm .
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: Daphne on March 30, 2013, 01:57:51 pm Are you prepared to confirm that this is the name that the woman we see here answers to? Yes, the woman in this page is named Einfríður. Like most Icelandics, she goes by her first name. That's an Icelandic coast guard helicopter in the background, which I am mentioning because I looked it up on Google and passed it on to Montalis as a reference and darned if the readership isn't going to appreciate that. :) Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: jmundt29 on March 30, 2013, 02:57:34 pm And the appropriate phonetic pronunciation of this woman's name is what, "Ein-Freth-ur"? Yikes. She's gorgeous, so I can see almost all straight American men she ever met at least making the effort to pronounce it correctly, but I get a distinct Doug Dorsey feeling about this particular name.
Please tell me someone here is familiar with his opening sequence in The Cutting Edge so I don't have to try to explain it and how embarrassing it is. Okay--so if I have this right, Derek broke into Jakob the Liar's Bachelor Pad of Doom looking for answers and located lingerie that pointed him toward Dani. Jakob The Liar either went down in a plane (Earhart or JFK Jr style) or went down in a ship (like DC's Oliver Queen) in the North Atlantic somewhere near Icelandic territorial waters. Maybe Dani was with him, and the trauma of that allowed her to surive and reboot her personality, or maybe this just explains that he disappeared around Harem Night. Do I have that right? Oh, and I forgot to ask. Is The Watch a relatively new prototype developed by Jakob the Liar, Johannes the manipulator, and their father, or was it developed years ago by the original Kuppler and his sons? Which is to say, is Kuppler & Sons a firm with a lot of history, or a new creation that Unnamed Father started and expanded to include Johannes and Jakob? I'm confused. Pretty typical of me, actually. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: Daphne on March 30, 2013, 02:58:54 pm And the appropriate phonetic pronunciation of this woman's name is what, "Ein-Freth-ur"? Pretty much~ "EIN-freye-thoor." Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: jmundt29 on March 30, 2013, 03:24:39 pm And if Johannes the Manipulator were to drop her in Kearsage for whatever reasons, what might she be nicknamed either by your audience or by the members of the SJI Harem? Freya? The name doesn't really roll of the western tongue.
Oh, speaking of mysterious women we might see again, what's the name of the bike messenger who covered Derek's break-in at Jakob the Liar's bachelor pad? Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: Daphne on March 30, 2013, 03:35:59 pm what's the name of the bike messenger who covered Derek's break-in at Jakob the Liar's bachelor pad? Jennifer. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: GodWilling on March 30, 2013, 04:29:42 pm .
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: laguna85 on March 30, 2013, 06:57:39 pm We have to go back to page 4 and boyfriend is a airline pilot and this may be Jakob?
Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: jmundt29 on March 30, 2013, 10:40:17 pm Or it could be a patched up memory fill-in for Jakob. Jakob strikes me as a nefarious and irresponsible man of leisure, the careless profligate that his father (unnamed as yet) and his brother (Johannes) keep having to clean up apfter so their own operations experiments, company maneuvers, and clandestine fun aren't exposed or ruined. He doesn't strike me as the sort to take a job as an airline pilot in this decade, and I doubt he could have kept a seat in the cockpit during the glory days of air travel.

Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: laguna85 on March 31, 2013, 08:42:24 am ??? so twist and turn in the story. ???
So may be a John? He was or is dad favorite son Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: jmundt29 on March 31, 2013, 11:54:33 am I don't think that Dani is modeled on Sybil. I think Dani and Dreya are separate hot blonde pilots who caught the eyes of different Kuppler brothers. Of course, as always, there's a distinct possibility that I'm very, very wrong about that.

Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: jmundt29 on April 06, 2013, 04:39:46 am I'll try to clear up my thought process on the Harem Night statement. Harem Night was the point where Claudia received the tax bill, the first time she seemed to feel that 37 Wall merited investigation. As such, it would seem to be the first point at which she guessed something was amiss. So, I pegged that as his disappearance point. It was a little hasty on my part.
Also, if Jakob the Liar is the guy masterminding whatever inspired the "On The Edge" nightmare, he's not sympathetic in the slightest, and I can't see him voluntarily relinquishing The Watch to one of his victims for any purpose whatsoever. Whoever did that enjoys the power of The Watch too much to part with it at all. Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary Guest Page 14: A Death in the Family Post by: Chettbaker on April 07, 2013, 02:58:59 pm I think Claudia receiving the tax bill was the first she knew of the existence of the apartment. Initially she thought it was the bill for the building she's in - hence her remark that she thought she'd paid it. Who knows what inspired the nightmare? Perhaps Dani had a cheese sandwich before she went to bed. I'll agree to the Tax Bill idea, but if that is true, was Claudia then not involved in running the accounts and balances portion of the Harem the year previous. If not, then who was? I also agree with the cheese sandwich theory.. but might suggest It was a Velveeta, Cheese Wiz or god forbid Spray Cheese sandwich that caused the nightmare. That stuff isn't even real cheese! |
