Title: Still behind?
Post by: Sharque on March 03, 2026, 05:07:25 pm
At this point, are we still behind on issues? Last I had heard, it was 5 behind in Jan, but I can’t figure out if it caught up at some point or not

By my count we are 7 comics behind schedule for the weeks that have been missed since the delays started.

I honestly just hope Daphne and the company is doing okay  :-\

Over a period of 3 1/2 months, December 2025 to now, there have been seven comics.  As far as the weekly and monthly goes, SJI has ceased production and An Education, one of my own favorite comics, which used to have two issues a month, has had only two issues December-March.

I dunno.  Daphne has been putting out a lot of terrific comics for a long time.  A lot of great content.  But it seems to be going away.

Eight:

• Belief System #10
• User Manual #2
• Takeout #6
• Belief System #11
• Another Perfect Day
• Terms and Conditions
• Connected #7
• Street Legal

SJI has not ceased production. SJI is on haitus because the same art team who draws SJI also draws Starter Marriage, and that is one of, if not the, most popular features on the site, and decisions needed to be made.

AE will have a highly variable schedule going forward due to circumstances beyond our control.

Look, there appears to be this idea that there is a big red "publish comic" button that I am, for some perverse reason, failing to push, and if people point out facts that I am deeply and painfully aware enough times, I'll get off my fat ass and start pushing it again. This is does not accurately represent the publication process at MCC.

At this point, all I can say is that I am doing my utmost to get back on schedule. If that is insufficient, then you will need to make a decision about your subscription. I am sorry to be that blunt, but there is literally nothing else I can do at this point to accelerate matters: it's all in the hands of others.

I think it will be easier to bear once one of the serials gets back into regular publishment. SJI is my favorite work on the site, so it’s been brutal having a nearly 5-month hiatus from it in favor of Starter Marriage, but I also understand that SM is one of the biggest attractors for most subscribers. When Octavia and PK are finished with their current work and back to business as usual, I’m sure I can stand the pipeline wait.

Yeah I’m confident things will get back up to speed. We all appreciate everything the entire team does here- it’s a LOT of work. Plus the wait just means big things are coming- at least in my opinion. Especially with Starter Marriage. The fact they’re putting a lot of work into it is really encouraging to me.

I don't doubt that you've gotten idiotic comments in that direction, but I don't get the impression that's where Vidor was going with his comment.

When you've come out and addressed the gaps in production, the impression I got is that there would be a few gaps here and there until you could catch up. Then, we'd get a few months with more publications than usual until we're caught up. But it's been almost a month since Street Legal. It's a longer gap than I expected, and I doubt I am alone in this.

We get that events conspired to create this exceptional circumstance, and that it's mostly out of you control. I've been subscribed for probably a decade by now. It get this isn't your usual standard. It must be frustrating and stressful to you. We get the bottleneck is artists, and that they need time to work.

But this is worse than I expected it to be, and I'm surprised you've not been more proactive at keeping up updating on the status of the backlog. This is a lot of consecutive misses. You can't be surprised some of us are beginning to worry.

I'm really not sure what more I could do. The list of titles in production is available here (https://forum.mindcontrolcomics.com/index.php?topic=4602.msg32614#new). There's not much more information than I can give. If I speculate on when those titles might be released, there is no level of qualification I could put on it that will not cause people to turn those dates into iron-clad commitments.

I had expected to be back on at least the basic weekly schedule by now. I am extremely frustrated that I haven't been able to. If everyone involved had kept to deadlines (or even vaguely close), we'd be back there by now (I don't like to name and shame, so I won't, but this has been a serious problem lately).

All I can really say is that everyone involved is working diligently to get caught up again, and I appreciate everyone's patience while we do.

I just thought I'd pipe up and mention that your hard work is appreciated, Daphne. Your frustrations are bound to be any as much or more than any of the fans. I know the stories will be worth the wait.

I get the impression that there have been droughts like this before, and that's where we usually get a month or so of Sturkwurk-illustrated comics, since the 3D rendered stories would likely have quicker turnaround time. Since the upcoming list didn't include any of those, I figured they were just unavailable this time. They have their own creator comics to keep up with, after all.

Definitely appreciate you keeping the readers in the loop, and taking effort not to name-and-shame. Quality art takes time, etc.

I'm appreciating that OneDollarBilly continues the weekly instalments of Expanded Universe, as I always look forward to those. Would always love to see more, but I know they have to keep up with Bloomin' Faeries too. :D

As I have done in the past for other creators, if I like and appreciate their work, I will keep subscribed unless there is a dramatic change in the publishing rate.

I have no doubt than Daphne and the whole MCC team is working at their best to get things back on track.

I've been looking for this explanation for way too long. I was getting rather concerned there were severe health issues and I just couldn't find any updates. As someone who wants to pay for art I've been very happy here. I have to take a short break from MCC but I plan to be back again in the near future. Thank you Daphne for ALL your hard work. A big thank you to all of your team as well.

I'm surprised you've not been more proactive at keeping up updating on the status of the backlog.

I'm really not sure what more I could do.

I would consider it a helpful update on the backlog if the "in production" list were updated more frequently. As of writing, it hasn't been updated for three weeks. When there's no change in the list, a nominal update that refreshes the "Last update" timestamp would still feel meaningful.
