Title: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Daphne on September 22, 2012, 08:40:34 pm In a coastal town, a young man and his girlfriend start to experiment with new aspects of their relationship...
(http://mindcontrolcomics.com/covers/enchanted_summer-i01-p00.jpg) Coming October 7th. Title: Re: Coming Soon Post by: Werdna on September 25, 2012, 10:41:07 am Looking forward to this. It would seem that this is the first new 'longer running' series in quite some time. Recent new comics have been either short runs or single issues, iirc.
Title: Re: Coming Soon Post by: jmundt29 on September 25, 2012, 12:51:49 pm Is this a haunted camera spin? Or a honeymoon phase?
Title: Re: Coming Soon Post by: Garg22 on September 27, 2012, 11:26:31 am Well on the cover I like the beach setting, very picturesque, very innocent. The slight anime style and use of pastels reminds me of Drains though, is it the same artist?

No, same artist who did Nymphomania. Title: Re: Coming Soon Post by: Michael Moorman on October 03, 2012, 03:13:32 pm Hopeful that she will be transformed totally and alot nude of her and other ladies in this storeline. I also hope that this is a regular series as well.

Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: jmundt29 on October 07, 2012, 09:09:08 am This would be nice as a regular series. However, I confess I'm a little confused. Has he been using his headache massages to seduce her all along, or is he unaware or only half-aware that he's doing it? He's fairly laid back for your Bertram-style anti-hero. Is this perhaps another crack at a sympathetic male character? Please? The art is beautiful and the story is intriguing if slightly bewildering at this stage.
Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Garg22 on October 07, 2012, 10:01:13 am Slow begining here, but I've found that those are the ones that turn out the best.
Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Vidor on October 07, 2012, 05:27:19 pm Quite promising start.
Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Vidor on October 08, 2012, 10:36:37 am Although, as usual, I'm a little confused. I'm starting to think I have a congenital disability to follow along with the plot of comics.
1. We have the protagonist, male, no name as yet. 2. Then there's Summer, the girl the protagonist is hypnotizing via massage. She also appears to be the girl the protagonist is talking to in the opening pages, arranging a meeting. And she is definitely a model for the protagonist's photography. 3. There is an unknown "she", who is "out of town for the whole weekend", per page 2. Is this someone the male protagonist lives with? 4. Also on Page 2 there is an "Autumn", who is busy from 3 to 6, which is when Summer and the protagonist meet. Presumably this is Summer's roommate or something? 5. Nicole, the protagonist's coworker at the art gallery. Obvious. 6. The protagonist waves hello to another unknown character at the end of page 5. Presumably not the unknown "she" I mention in #3 above. Could that be Autumn, going to dance class? Is that all correct, as far as characters go? So that's me trying to keep the characters straight. As far as the actual story goes, there's a lot of intrigue here that I like. There appears to be something up with Summer and the protagonist--why is she rolling around in the nude with the protagonist if she's apparently reluctant to have sex with him? I'd like to think that the protagonist has been using his headache massages to gradually condition Summer, and we have started the story in the middle of that process, where he's already gotten to the "take off clothes and feel each other up" stage but hasn't progressed her to fucking yet. Anyway, good start, intriguing story, outstanding art. Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Daphne on October 08, 2012, 11:22:03 am 1. We have the protagonist, male, no name as yet. Chris. Teenagers. :) Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: mi_english on October 08, 2012, 12:10:19 pm liking this story so far, don't mind the...unaddressed issues. I had assumed that Summer and Automn were sisters, which of course, will have ramifications very quickly.
Seems Chris is one of those nice guys who waits (for a teen-age girl) that I thought had died out when *I* was a teen-ager. I suspect he has no ulterior motive, and indeed has no idea that he is putting Summer in a trance with his temple message. The moral question is, when he DOES realize what is happening, what does he do with that knowledge/skill? ALWAYS the fun part. Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Vidor on October 08, 2012, 01:28:57 pm I had no idea that they were supposed to be sisters. That could upgrade this story from good to AWESOME.
I guess we will see if Chris knows what he's doing or not--it certainly seemed that he was implanting a suggestion for Summer to fuck him. I would like to think that Chris's hypno skills are the reason why Summer is taking off her clothes and letting him feel her up, b/c I like it when the MCer does have an ulterior motive. I am imagining an unseen beginning where Summer comes into the studio to get "glamour" shots done and comes down with a headache, allowing Chris to start planting suggestions... And I'm dumb, she refers to Chris by name on page 6. Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: jmundt29 on October 09, 2012, 08:48:05 am And see, we have thoughtful fans with completely different aspirations for the character.
It does seem like we walked in halfway through Chris' hypno-seduction technique, but I rather like the idea that as we begin, he's unaware that he's conditioning her so that we actually see that he does care aobut her and he does desire her as close to an equal. Though I'm sure she's changed it by now, what is our seasonal mother's birth name? Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Skyrender on October 10, 2012, 03:22:43 am Interesting first episode. The control was so subtle I missed it the first time around. Nicely played, very understated.
My best guess for what we're going to find: Autumn is going to turn out to be Summer! She's the same girl, with a case of multiple personalities. Depending on how things turn out, one or the other is unaware of her situation, although it remains to be seen which is which. When one is around, the other seems to retreat into a fictional life where she's going about daily activities (e.g.: 'Autumn has dance from three to six', p3i1). Summer and Autumn seem to be operating in the mental sort of 'we're just roommates' fashion that Ed Norton and Brad Pitt did in Fight Club. The boyfriend has obviously already figured it out, and as we've seen, is using hypnosis to get some almost-action from Summer, and to work her towards getting some very full-on action. Eventually, we're probably going to see some other personalities show up, probably named for other periods of time. Each one will dress and act and even talk very differently, with the one constant being her relationship with her boyfriend. Ideas for who/what Summer's other personalities might be: Melissa 'Missy' Dawn Daye: Acts very young and/or naive, with a bit of innocent mischief thrown in on occasion. Likes wearing schoolgirl outfits (one size too small), and cheerleader uniforms (two sizes too small up top, three sizes too short down below, panties optional). Answers to both 'Missy' and 'Dawn', confusing somebody at some point, when they run into Melissa Knight (see below). Melissa Knight: Stern and self-controlled, has a bit of latent (or not-so-latent) domme in her. Constantly misspells her last name, forgetting the 'K'. Something of a feminist, and insists on being referred to as 'Ms. Knight', instead of 'Miss Knight' (the whole idea of having to change her form of address based on whether she's married is offensive to her). At some point, she'll get into a fight with somebody who calls her 'Missy'. April March (aka: Early Spring): Constantly acts like she's in the first blush of love with the boyfriend, sort of a love-at-first-sight kind of situation. Her name is an unsubtle reference to the two months at the beginning of the 'official' period of spring (contrast to June Mays, below). June Mays (aka: Late Spring): Very cool and sophisticated, but with a wild side that she likes to let run wild, after the 5 o'clock whistle. Constantly in that period just as the love-at-first-sight has started to wear off, and the hot and steamy sex is just starting. Her name is an unsubtle reference to the two months at the end of the 'official' period of spring (contrast to April March, above). Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Winters (aka: 'Lezzie Lizzie'): Acts very mature, like a cougar on the prowl. Fully bisexual (leans toward guys), and has a fully-developed backstory about getting the nickname 'Lezzie Lizzie' when she was in college, when she first felt it was socially acceptable to 'experiment' with women, and went through a large, unspecified number of unnamed female partners in the first semester. Completely aware of her own situation as a secondary personality, and will be quite willing (even eager) to help bring other women under her boyfriend's hypnotic sway, so much so that she jumps the gun the first time or two. If she jumps the gun twice, it'll be right after the first time, before she even introduces the first hypnotoy she makes, and it'll be because she runs across a supremely fuckable group of identical girls: a pair of twins, a set of triplets, or maybe even quadruplets (Two pairs of big-titted twins for the price of one? SCORE!). Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: jmundt29 on October 10, 2012, 06:56:49 am Our fearless author has already identified Autumn as the brunette Chris waves to on the street in panel 5 of page 5. Maybe a multiple personalities triggered by hypnosis idea can be used in this comic in a slightly different way or can be shelved and revisited in a different story.
Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Skyrender on October 12, 2012, 02:53:42 am Yeah, see, I have a crappy internet connection. I managed to get the issue downloaded before it crapped out, but couldn't check out the forum. I generally hafta make a document offline while waiting for the internet to sort itself out, then cut-and-paste when I get a chance. Well, my chance didn't come until several days later... by which time the whole idea had gotten blown way out of proportion, as you can see in my post. My apologies to anyone and everyone for my stupidity.

Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: jmundt29 on April 22, 2013, 08:47:12 am Are there more issues of this in the hopper?
Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: Daphne on April 22, 2013, 08:50:09 am Are there more issues of this in the hopper? Well, depending on what portion of the production chain you define the "hopper" as. :) Planned, definitely Title: Re: Enchanted Summer #1 Post by: jmundt29 on August 19, 2013, 10:50:51 am Anything planned before the end of the year on this one? Its presence in the recurring lineup indicates you have plans for it, but it's been over 10 months since the premiere.
