Nice title!  It could serve for either branch of the new story.  It could have something to do with whomever Jacqui runs into at the diner, or it could have to do with Erin's alone time with Adrian while Jacqui's away getting lunch.  Or, it could refer to what happens after Jacqui returns (though I think we're still at least two panels away from that.

I'm gonna make this a new post so you can see my before-release thoughts and my after-release thoughts.

Interesting, but a lot more questions than answers.  We now know the reason Dani's going to give Adrian for the new construction--Oh, Jacqui asked me to partner with her at Sawyer's on the 28th.  This is for practice.  Oh--the other girls said they wouldn't mind learning so they could help me practice.  Don't you like watching us?"  Cute, efficient excuse that Adrian might buy after some thought given his high threshhold for surprise since the Watch entered his life.

Given these clues, it would seem that Sawyer was the person Jacqui was talking to on the phone "this morning" saying "Make me an offer."

Question #1--They make leather jackets that are actually tube tops? :o  And Jacqui actually bought one? :o  How long had that been hiding in the back of her closet until the night of the Watch and the Storm? ;)

Question #2--What exactly is painted on the door of the red pickup?  Q generally stands for quality in such enterprises (unless the proprietor's name begins with Q) and the first word next to the Q looks like "Property."  The truck itself appears to be a business vehicle driven by that septugenarian (or older) who's trying to appear harmless.

Question #3--Is he harmless?  I'd think he'd be almost as unnerving to look at in intimate situations as the half-human "adversary" from the "Hidden Knowledge" series.  Is he just the diner owner's kindly father or uncle or just a well-meaning regular customer who stops by every week for lunch out?

We have a new set of blondes who work for some kind of Mary-Kay-ish beauty supply company (aimed at the younger crowd) judging by their pink business van who are sitting across from one another in the booth near the door.

Question #4--Are the blondes twins (as they appear to be), some other relation to one another, or just similar-looking blondes who happen to be co-workers and (I assume) friends?

Question #5--What's the waitresss/proprietor's name?  We can see the name tag that's part of her uniform a couple of times, but it's illegible.

Question #6a.--Sawyer is a last name or a profession.  What is Sawyer's first name?
Question #6b.--Is Sawyer a man or a woman?  Seems like a name a guy would go by, but one can live in hope. Maybe it's a genuine biker chick or female ex-MP.  Besides, I can't imagine a dude who ran a strip club that Jacqui would regularly speak to (unless when he spoke to her before her Watch treatment she regularly chewed him out and/or broke his nose).

Question #7--Exactly where in Wilmot is this diner and how big is Wilmot?  Jacqui doesn't appear to have driven, so she could conceivably have walked, but there appears to be a bus stop right across from the diner...and it would seem to be a large commuter bus which is strange because Wilmot has given every appearance of being a small out-of-the-way college town before this.  One that probably wouldn't make a major regional bus route and certainly wouldn't need its own mass transit system.

Question #8--Does Jacqui own an automobile?  If so, what kind of car is it?

I can not make out the third word

Now why am I suddenly suspicious of the 'princess pink' beauty supply van?

Thanks Laguna.

Rift--Oh...drat! ;)  I didn't even think of that.  We haven't met the new adversary yet, but we've met his/her thralls who spread the good word with the product, must wear matching uniforms...and may or may not be transformed to look like twins or programmable....someone else can finish that thought.

Didn't even consider that.  I thought they were just blondes that the girls might play with or cross paths with later and looked the part...like the Wilmot cheerleaders look the part.  Nice catch and alternate perspective.

Although, I can't think who would want thralls more interested in their own appearance and airs than anything else.  Maybe THEY'RE the adversaries and they have a competing paradigm.  Now THAT would be fun to watch.

All I have to say is that "It is a serial". Maybe (and I do me maybe) we'll know some about some of that stuff in a year or two.

My only questions are "Can we get updates to SJI more than once a week?" and "Can we get more than one other comic a week?"

Any other questions I have will be answered if the comic is good enough! (Which I think it is!)

Daphne, PK--Did I literaly fall for a red herring (pickup) right off the bat?

We always hope against hope for bonus releases of SJI.

I like to see a mistress a woman that is really good with other women. She can say hypnotits to hypnotized other women. When she get them alone in the bathroom.  She is good a get the woman that she wants and desire even if it takes a week to get her.

Quite so! While it's always cool to see posters speculating and to find out what people think is going to happen, Daphne, Octavia, and I can't really say much about it, since we don't want to slip up and give anything away!

I'm afraid the weekly update schedule for SJI is my fault...I'm drawing as fast as I can! There will still be bonus weeks and bonus pages, though, which we'll bring out as often as possible.

And thanks to everyone, as always, for reading and commenting (especially jmundt - that post at the top must have taken some time!) - it's great to read your thoughts, and to know that you're involved enough to post them!

Correct me if I'm wrong. . .  but isn't the old guy Elmer form "Sweat Equity"?

Refresh my memory....what/where/when was "Sweat Equity?"

On a side note--I've been bringing up early episodes to ask related questions, but this is a question about the future relating back to the early stuff, so I think it could go here.

In Episode 14 when Jacqueline first punched Derek (and the world cheered as his nose broke) something else was being discussed.  Adrian was filling in the blanks on his breakup.  His ex called him to end it and he could hear that she was en flagrante with her new boyfriend.  That is a sad story and given what we know about Adrian's attributes and generally good heart, it seems that the karmic and cosmic scales are balancing through his unintentional adventures with the watch.  However, I'm wondering what the story is with the break-up, if his ex might not have been under the control of said unnamed new boyfriend and if we might not see one or both of them again.  Might they follow Adrian to Wilmot?

I'll have to hunt the archives for Sweat Equity.  As for the ex thing--no, not Dani's most recent ex (Derek), Adrian's ex.  The woman who broke up with him in one of the top ten most humiliating ways possible--the one who inspired him to drop his life and move to Kearsarge and become a Wilmot student.  Her.  We've never seen her or learned her name, but the circumstances of the breakup are suspect (almost as if her new squeeze was someone like Derek...but more sinister and competent).

PK--might you favor us with the name of the waitress proprietor?  It seems like we won't be seeing her for at least a month but that she does have something to contribute to the story.  Giving us her name isn't spoilerific.

Her  name is Maddy (short for Maddison); she's called by name in the last panel of this issue (it's on her nametag, too,  but it's awfully small). Didn't mean to ignore the question - I got caught up following Fontgate over on this week's thread and didn't see this post for a while!

What?!  ???  That speech bubble was there the whole time?! :o  *slaps forehead* Thanks. :)  But, if Maddy is the blond that Jacqui's talking to, then who's speaking to Maddy from behind us (the audience) at the end of the counter? ???  If I'd actually registered that speech bubble the first 60 times I read the comic ( ::)) (remember how long it took me to find the watch on that Jacqui-Erin-Mal Marli splash page? :-[), I'd have assumed that the blonde was talking over her shoulder to Maddy in the kitchen asking to change shifts.  Now that I know she isn't, I have to ask, who does that speech bubble belong to?  We have several shots of the interior of the diner and Madison seems to be the only waitress on duty right now.

Well, inquiring minds wanna know. ;)

Now, about the septugenarian driver of the red pickup--er, first things first.

1. Were we correct in surmising that the company he works for is called Quality Property Management?  If not, what's actually painted on his passenger door?

2. Is he related to Maddy?  He seems to be a regular since she knows how he likes his coffee without asking him.

3. What is his name?

I know not to go into too much detail about the Princess Pink blondes, but I thought I'd ask a question

Are they our second set of twins or are they just blonde cowowrkers/friends who look similar because they wear the same uniform?
