Title: How are you on body horror? Post by: Daphne on August 29, 2020, 11:06:11 am How do you feel about what is often called body horror (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_horror) in your MC erotica?

Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: Haight on August 30, 2020, 10:12:27 pm I think it's really important to qualify what the definitions are here.
Fundamentally, anything intentionally "gross" is going to be a big turnoff for me. A lot of Cronenberg-esque body horror is going to fall into that category for most people (even if it makes for good cinema). For me in particular, inanimate or doll-like transformations tend to veer into the squick factor pretty hard too. That said, the fantasy of a character losing control of their own body (perhaps to parallel them losing control over their own mind) could be very spicy, especially when combined with breast enlargement etc. But it's not like that isn't something that you haven't done before; two of my favorite stories on the site, Beyond Rubies and The Hidden Knowledge, both feature this very heavily. I'd love to see this done with an alien/monster pregnancy sort of story... that stuff can be very fun. As a straight guy, I approach the male body in a different way. Intentionally *gross* depictions of the male body, like caricatured "ugly bastard" stuff (google it if you don't get it) or caricatured negative racial depictions in stories that focus on that, are things that I find repulsive. On the other hand, inhuman, monstrous, or scary depictions of the male body (including tentacles) can be a lot of fun; the "beauty and the beast" archetype works pretty well for adding a bit of spice to an erotic depiction. Fundamentally, though, the way I'm thinking of it isn't body horror, because it doesn't involve a loss of control on the male's part. Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: Milkwood on August 31, 2020, 06:02:55 am Is this just a way of moving into the realm of BDSM as there are plenty sites on the internet already covering this niche and I for one would be loathe to see MCC go down this path.
Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: hereno on August 31, 2020, 08:15:19 pm the realm of BDSM I know I'm getting a bit off-topic, but: I often wonder if my attraction to MC is really just me seeking out M/s erotica that isn't sado-masochist. Particularly in video. The industry is sloooowly waking up to this idea, but for a long while, it really felt like MC was the only way to find that. Anyway, back to the body horror discussion! Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: Daphne on August 31, 2020, 08:53:47 pm Is this just a way of moving into the realm of BDSM No. Body horror and BDSM are pretty different things. Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: Milkwood on September 02, 2020, 07:46:16 am I was unsure as to what constitutes "Body Horror" and having read the definition on line I find that stories containing BH may be counter-productive more likely to be a turn off than a turn on to a high percentage of readers given the current format of MCC.
I must confess I find it difficult to imagine how BH as described on line can be done tastefully, I do not mind the odd tattoo but I do not get the penchant in some porn stars to cover most of their body in colored ink stains in an effort to enhance their body image. I guess you can see from above I am a definite NO in the BH campaign. Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: Daphne on September 02, 2020, 08:51:05 am Well, we already have a body horror title: Drains.
Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: Milkwood on September 07, 2020, 08:11:04 am Thank you Daphne for your analogy, which by the way in my opinion is tastefully done, but I would not describe "Drains" as BH as it is defined on the internet but more akin to "Pinhead" and movies of that ilk. It is obviously an umbrella phrase covering a multitude of acts of disfigurement perpetrated on the human body which some might describe as almost sado-masochism and that I personally would not like to see MCC go down that path.
Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: nageth on September 09, 2020, 12:36:05 am What is "tasteful" is kind of subjective. I think you've done a pretty good job not crossing any lines. I think where it would probably cross a line for me is if it got into things like blood or things that would normally involve that (loss/attachment of limbs etc).
Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: ozymandias on September 11, 2020, 06:06:52 pm Well, we already have a body horror title: Drains. One of my favorite titles. So. Much. MC. Title: Re: How are you on body horror? Post by: neogeo on November 22, 2020, 03:12:33 pm In this context, and this context alone, It's horrible. Jarring neck breaking levels of terrible. I consume plenty of porn/hentai, and can appreciate scary girls and scary boys, but this shit is just beyond the pale. Hard no. I like type of thing about as much as the idea of playing through dark souls 1,2 and 3 with a guitar hero controller.
