Title: Re: Saint James Infirmary #959: “Passenger List” Post by: lifmcs on June 08, 2020, 11:13:31 pm I was definitely conflating the far more pervasive marshalling ground crews with the landing officers on carriers, presumably from movies and stuff I've seen in the past. I couldn't find a wave off signal when I looked up marshalling, because the exact term wasn't coming to me, but it seems I wasn't completely crazy. The lack of apparent motion does call my interpretation into question though. And now that we're good and properly far afield... only midnight PDT can salvage this tangent.

Among other things, to wave off a plane either the ground crew is standing on the runway, which is sub-optimal, or the aircraft is trying to land in the parking area...which is even more sub-optimal. I can imagine story scenarios in which such an occurrence might make a modicum of sense, but they weren't relevant in the end. Not that I was putting much stock in them to begin with.
