The only thing I'm stuck on at this point is how the detective ended up in Gray's car... or failing that (because he could easily have just told her he had information on Susan Aspinall), how he got her into the chair in the basement. I don't know--this woman's a detective, knows how to handle a weapon, knows how to recognize a bad situation and keep her guard up. So far the series has dealt with plausible (well mostly) behavior... that's one of the things I really like about it--the very limited amount of pure magic involved--so I'm going to hold out for an explanation that seems plausible.
