But the idea of the government having access to legit mind control tech is existentially terrifying. What happens if the CIA somehow finds out about the weird shit going on in Kearsarge, and the government starts using mind control to engineer compliance in the population? Because you know they would.
To be honest, that's the biggest justification for killing all the people with knowledge of mind control that the protagonists can't trust - what happens if the powers that be find out? Or maybe this isn't the kind of story where people need to be that paranoid lol. When is the harem going to quit playing around with Haley and just induct her already? Then I woke up this morning realizing it was probably Q ringing her.
