1) Ring Cycle : simply the best

2) Cloud Nine : among the best MC less radical

3) Swipe : good but no direct MC interaction (over an app on a phone)

There were VERY few of these I didn't like. Picking 3 is rough with this group. It was a very good year indeed!

ARGH. I cannot vote here! I had a hard drive failure and lost all of the Bonus books :'( :'(

And I don't trust me memory to be fair.

My votes went to Catherine's Story, Start Date, and Swipe. But April Fool was a very close fourth, especially since the art is so crisp and I liked the expressive (or brainwashed) faces!

My vote: april fool, cloud 9, and office hours. Overall: the artwork drives these, and the people who depict mind control most effectively win. The stories are so short that they can't really be developed, so story and art have to mesh fast and hard. I love the MC in, for example, animal magnetism, but the MC doesn't come through for me. (BTW: still waiting for a followup on Behind the Door...) Good examples include The Convent of St Nicholas and Sideshow; my 3 choices above reflect that fusion.
