Why give Jacob the watch? Unless it doesn't have the shell in it.

It seems catastrophically stupid to allow Jacob the watch with the shell in it, and if it didn't have it Adrian and Dani would have just said so. It all seems so unnecessarily obfuscated.

Considering what we saw her doing, I think he is literally just getting a watch. I think Adrian isn't telling Danielle what actually happened for fear of activating her programming.

It really begs the question of why he hadn't used the watch on her to figure out her programming, though.

Insufficient time, perhaps?  It seems like he only twigged to Danielle having embedded programming after his experiences in the Cloud, and since then he's been racing against the clock of Angela's arrival.  Or maybe he's afraid to use the Watch precisely because it's so powerful -- it could do permanent damage if misused, in a way that Pink Clouds or one of the crystals apparently cannot.
