Purple highlights lead to two possibilities.

1. Hitomi and the sinister couple or

2. Raven gets to play again.

Forgot about Amalthia.  So does this mean that Aiken is about to trip over our cheerleader-collecting couple?  Will he rescue the cheerleaders?  Mentor the couple?  Or overpower them and take possession of their...collection?

This comic undercut my understanding of the timeline, but it will take some effort to explain why.

The last two panels of #79 imply that Raven's dinner visit to the Infirmary is on Thursday, January 12th.  (Jacqui and Danielle's planned trip to the strip club looks to be slated for Saturday, January 28th.)

Raven goes to the infirmary on the day covered by #116-#144, so that's Thursday, January 12th.  That anchors the timeline.

#145-#168 is Friday, January 13th.

#169-#227 is Saturday, January 14th.

#228-#307 is Sunday, January 15th.

#308-#417 is Monday, January 16th.

#418-#517 is Tuesday, January 17th.

#518-#646 is Wednesday, January 18th.

#647-#688 is Thursday, January 19th.

#689-#747 is Friday, January 20th.

That means the date in today's comic should be Saturday, January 21st.  But if that's the case, shouldn't Hitomi be asking Amalthea "Are you doing anything tonight?" instead of "Are you doing anything Saturday?"  Or did I miss something?

It's certainly the case that if that was a Thursday then this is a Saturday. On the other hand we have been told that time is impressionistic in SJI.

My main concern is that all the plot elements I'm waiting for seem to be happening on Saturday, and now apparently this isn't it. If it isn't though, well, Thursday 19th January was only 40 pages long, so we could get to Saturday as early as Christmas.

#308-#417 is Monday, January 16th.

#418-#517 is Tuesday, January 17th.

#647-#688 is Thursday, January 19th.

#689-#747 is Friday, January 20th.

E417 is the morning of Tuesday, Jan 17th as the scene is about various people waking up including someone saying no, no, no, no to an alarm clock app on their phone.

E687 could be late on the night of Jan 19th, which is where I put it since I'm starting days when the sun is up or an alarm clock goes off, or you could consider it early in the morning of Jan 20th.

E688 is definitely the morning of Jan 20th with birds chirping, Erin complaining about them and Ravin getting Erin coffee.

Yeah, one can quibble a little bit about which side of the boundary some of the comics fall.  But I think my basic point holds, though: if my anchor date is correct, then the current date is Saturday.

I found some more evidence to support my anchor date.  In #167, Weston make a reference to "tech on Sunday".  The next day, in comic #202, Erin says "I have tech tomorrow."  That makes the #228-#307 day Sunday.  Working backwards from that makes #116-#144 a Thursday.  But subsequent events, such as Caitlyn being in class in #757, aren't consistent with the resulting timeline.

It's one thing to say that time is "impressionistic", but the transition from day to day looks pretty clear.

Danielle gets her job in #125 (Day #116-#144), and is asked to "start tomorrow".  She's filing new employee paperwork in #154 (Day #145-#168), so those days are contiguous.

The Pink Clouds theft takes place in #161 (Day #145-#168) and is discovered in #170 (Day #169-#227), so those days are contiguous.

Erin makes reference to "tech tomorrow" in #202 (Day #169-#227) and actually has it in #230 (Day #228-#307) so those days are contiguous.

Pearl hooks up with Weston and Reka in #302 (Day #228-#307) and is clearly discussing the aftermath in #310 (Day #308-#417) so those days are contiguous.

Johannes comes to town in Day #308-#417, is seen dressing in #420 and is said to have left in #424 (Day #418-#517) so those days are contiguous.

Laura says she has to meet with her advisor "tomorrow" in #481 (Day #418-#517) and actually does so in #535 (Day #518-#646), so those days are contiguous.

Pearl was spending the night with Reka and Weston in #622 (Day #518-#646) and is clearly waking up the next morning in #647 (Day #647-#688), so those days are contiguous.

Reka makes a booty call to the infirmary in #673 (Day #647-#688) and Erin is talking about it in #690 (Day #689-#747).  Pearl and Reka's discussion in #692 also kind of implies that the Reka/Adrian/Jacqui/etc pileup was the previous night.  That makes those days contiguous.

Aiken shows up in Kearsage in #741 (Day #689-#747) and is doing the rounds in #749 (Day #748-?), so those look contiguous as well.

Basically I don't see much room for gaps between days from #116 through the present.  There's good reason to say that Day #228-#307 is Sunday, and that makes Day #748-? a Saturday, except that it doesn't seem to be one.
