Who is the red Monster master?

Do those things have masters?  I mean Cherry summoned the last one, it savaged her and Erin had to beat feat to avoid getting seriously injured herself after Cherry was attacked.  Perhaps summoner or conjurer and master are supposed to be the same thing, but so far it seems like the people who have called these things up don't have the combination of power, will, and discipline to control them.  We'll see, though.  I'm thrilled that Laura isn't our first permanent casualty (yet).
